Why's everyone jumping off of China's boat after a mediocre performance in Japan?

Well as the title says, why is everyone jumping off the bandwagon after a mediocre performance in Japan, think about it they just knocked everyone at the World Championships...and oh my gosh they just won 2 events at the Japan open and everyone is all concerned or something. So please tell me why ?

    everyone's always like that...
a lot of people dont' cheer for nations or players anymore. they cheer for winners.
since you're a canadian (i'm assuming), you should know exactly what i talk about, when i mention the following: NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

    Are there really?

As far as I can see, there are those die-hard Chinese supporters who are very much fuelled by nationalism who will not change side regardless. :p

Then there are the Malaysia and Indonesia supporters who I cannot imagine ever supported China anyway as long as their own players are competing.:p

There are the neutrals who just enjoyed watching good badminton, and could not care less who win as long as the game is exciting.:D

    So who has jumped boat?

To add to the list by Linus:

There are also romantics who love to see an underdog player/team bring the fight to the powerful Team China and hopefully win.

I'm usually the above if no Malaysians remain in contention.

Badminton players (in some instances) are fickle. Most live for the moment and have a short term memory and selective long term memory. That is, they only remember what they like. :p

    Don't forget also...

..those PAWers in BC, some are neutrals (and most likely don't give a hoot on who win, lose, cry, get upset), but only follow the games just for the sake of winning their respected PAW game(s)...:p;)
I know those PAWers are not jumping off of CHN's boat after any mediocre performance..:p;)

i think nobody jumped boats too. just because nobody is talking about china's winning ways does not mean they dont support china anymore. we are pretty loyal, we badminton fans. the only problem is some of the fans like to bash the ones they supposedly support. :D but they stick to them anyway. so the boats still the same. kih kih kih.

some are disappointed cuz chn usually bags more than 2 events! plus, ppl's thinkin is tat .. oh Lin Dan is gonna win, XXF n ZN will definitely make it to finals, Feng Yun will be in finals and win.... and when it does not come true, ppl will start question bout it... don worry.. cuz when the start winning more than 2 events again, ppl will shut up.. automatically.. and start praying what happened in JO '07 to happen again.. and its goes round n round n round never ending... :D tats life.. :D

It's not a case of ppl jumping off the bandwagon but rather a case of ppl whose players got crushed by china players more often than not just getting their shots in as it doesn't happen very often  I am sure china will rebound after this and it's just one of those once in a blue moon sort of incident...
