alright i'm pretty pissed off... i've got bloody tennis elbow and it bloody hurts... does anybody else have it and how do you deal with it? or is there anyway to counter it?
harryc - Tennis elbow and playing badminton - it may be a sign that your racket is very stiff and the tension is very high, and you tend to hit the shuttlecock off-centered. These make the racket twist a lot and you have to exert a lot of effort to make the shuttlecock fly. The shock is absorbed mainly by the origins and tendons of your muscles. First things first - how to prevent it. Lower the tension. Maybe 18 - 20 lbs. From there, work your way up until your shots are well centered and your arm muscles are stronger than when you started. Be sure your strokes are correctly and properly done. Next, how to deal with it now and when it happens again. Ordinarily, a pack of ice does the trick. Most pitchers do this. Many tennis players do it also. Badminton players may also do it. I've done it and it worked.
In addition, you may want to have your form/technique checked by a pro. I've noticed most tennis elbow type problems are related to technique. Once you correct it, the problem goes away.
i had tennis elbow the first time i play badminton. Your arm will eventually gets use to the tension and stiffness of the racket or it could be also due to technique like Dinkalot said
like vetrans forummers have posted b4, please seek medical professional advice if your condition is serious. what i understand about tennis elbow is that it is caused by overused of the wrist. maybe your strokes use too much wrist movement or too much wrist power. you may need to correct your stroke. try to straighten your hand palms down, and stretch your wrist by bending your wrist till your fingers pointing down. hope this helps.
