So far we have seen many reviews for a big variety of rackets. And most are relatively positive. I'd like to hear from you which worst racket you have ever used including the string type, tension, shuttlecock, your level of play Racket: Apacs Nano Gold Speed String : Yonex BG66 Tension: 23lbs Shuttlecock : Yonex Aerosensa AS-5 Speed 2 Level: Novice - Intermediate
You're wrong Cooler, my friend has a fake At800OFF that in my opinion plays better than a genuine At800OFF, my point being not all fakes are bad ; however i must say that 95% of fakes are straight out bad. Fake racquets aside, i believe alot of the clone racquets are alot crappier than their original counterparts as i've tested several 5+ clone racquets and they all failed to meet my expectations after using 4 of the real ones. Fake and clone racquets aside i believe the crappiest GENUINE YONEX racquet is the NS9000(X or S) they both feel like flinging a feather around, and the face stability is straight out bad...and also don't have as much oomph as a musclepower or an armortec or even a basic isometric or carbonex. The NS9000X was strung with BG66 at 24lbs and the NS9000S was strung with BG85 at 23lbs. I am an advance level player, and was using feather bird.
A good tradesperson doesn't blame his/her tools Hi Monster, Hehehe... Please don't just blame it on the worst racket. A good player can use a $5 racket to play, but still plays better than someone who uses a $200+ racket. Cheers... chris@ccc
Racquet: No name steel racquet from the dollar store String: Unknown, but thick and hard, like plastic Tension: Unknown, but probably lower than 15 lbs. Shuttlecock: No name shuttles from the dollar store, foam heads and brittle cheap plastic (6 for a dollar) Level: Intermediate
i dun want to elaborate your reply since u just show us how much u know about equipments by your own words. Owning NS rackets or playing wif feathers dont classify ur an advanced player nor knowledgeable about equipments. Btw, i have a cab20 that is older than you
Can I qualify as an advance player since I bought my racket AT 700 from you? I also just bought an Armortec 900T(I felt like a rich man the other week), can I call myself an expert of badminton equipment then? I am even more advance, since I can play with both feather and plastic...LOL. Plus, I am sure I am older than your cab20...hahaha...
aikes....... no wonder that i am still a beginner. still using carbonex 15sp. old beginner coz i am older than cab20.....
this much true. the feeling as you hit the shuttle is uneasy. hit it hard, my hand start shaking. maybe thinking of placing a dampener on string, similiar to tennis. use rubber band to tie the stringbed.....
You do know that I was pure joking in my post, right? I wish owning the top racket would make me a top player... haha.. if so, I already as good as Taufik(since we use the same racket AT 900T)LOL. and I am also just as good as Lin Dan(with my AT 700).
Worst Racket i tried, Racket:Karakal SL70, String:BG65 Tension:25lbs, Shuttlerotech gold. Totally yucky.
from bananaboy ----> bananakid what do i think? top player downgraded to advance player now..... maybe we should elobrate more on why it is a such no good racket. too much vibrations? too flimsy.... too lightweight? too heavyweight? poor control? heavy and no power?
i dont think there's such a thing as 'worst racket'. a crappy racket to you could be sumone else's prized posession. anyway, there are too many variables involved in wat makes a 'crappy' racket.so please elaborate. in my experience, you can adapt to different rackets to maximise the full potential of the respective racket. of course u cant do it overnight.if u change from a headheavy armortec to a very headlight apacs, u'll get ur balance all wrong.but giv it time is my opinion.
Its too lightweight and no power, and on certain shots when i dont hit the sweetspot, it will send vibrations too. Is the sl70 your main racket?
Are you suggesting cooler is not entitiled for his opinions. If he doesnt agree with you, then that opinion is wrong, what is that all about? If you ask me, fakes play the worst, no doubt. If you cant play with NS9000(X or S), dont blame the racket for your shortcomings.
I've never played a truly bad racket! (Provided it's competently strung with BG66/BG80 or equivalent at my desired tension). I did a test, I took an oval, $15 steel racket and strung it with BG66 at 24/26.5lbs. and compared it to my benchmark, a Woven 7 strung with Ashaway Rally 20, 0.85mm (thick!) string at 18lbs. and the $15 steel racket played better! Though the $15 steel racket was less stable, heavier, unevenly balanced and just altogether weird feeling, I had better feel and control over my beloved Woven 7 which was just absolutely numb and spongy with the super thick, super low tension Rally 20 string. My point is, just about any racket, even if it's not my ideal weight and style of racket, if properly strung with good string, at my desired tension, will perform just fine for me. It may not be ideal but I can adjust to it and can play well enough with it. For me, the key is the string, stringer, and tension not the racket.
Believe it or not, I've actually tried quite a few quality fake and clone rackets and they are good! Why? A simple formula, they use decent graphite, have a slight to moderate endload to them = good racket. To support this, the unofficial bellwether racket is like that, the Cab 20, good graphite, good balance = tried and true, good racket, the benchmark. So for me it's no surprise those quality fakes will play decently. Now, poor fakes or clones that cost $15-$20, that's a different story. I've played with a few that were extremely flexy, using poor graphite. I cracked the shaft within 40 minutes of hitting with it. These, of course, are terrible.
Decent Graphite still not good enough. Yes they may have a good feel, control etc.. but after like 10hrs of heavy hitting , i mean the racket hr usage.. it feels totally different.
