Hi, I read some where i forgot where but in doubles play, the serve isn't supposed to go into the back lines, but i read somewhere that in the new rules that you can serve all the way to the back, im sorry if this is like a repost or something but i have never heard of that before and would like to know if its true what i read or not
Nope, doubles service should stop before it reaches the rear of the court. The service area in doubles is SHORT but WIDE. Conversely, in singles it's LONG but NARROW
thanks thats what i thought i just wanted to make sure because when i read that it could go all the way back i thought it was wrong
Hi Craig, Someone had asked me about this question too, and I said "NO"...I am just curious as to where he or you heard this rumor from? thanks bchaiyow
bchaiyow i dont remember where i saw it or read it from. i was just browsing on some forum and some guy talked about the new rules and hat was in there, and i thought i should ask it on here because, well there is no better place to ask it.
Instead of depending on unconfirmed sources or hearsay, it is always best to go to the official source to varify the data yourself: http://www.internationalbadminton.org/statues.asp
This goes back couple of years back, when the BWF (aka IBF) was considering the rally scoring system. One of the proposals that the WBF was toying with for doubles, was to move the back service line -- all the way back. Thankfully, this idea was never adopted.
