Just curious how much everyone has invested in playing badminton money-wise. I started playing back in highschool and used maybe 3 low-end yonex racquets in total. My last highschool racquet was the first yonex isometric series which was about $50CND, which was a pretty big deal for my dad to spend so much on something that's "recreational". lol I now still play a couple times a week... I guess I'm lower than most medium players, but I can still play pretty competitively. So far, I've maybe spent close to $200 on racquets: $30 Carlton $30 Carlton $50 Yonex Isometric $90 Yonex AT150 I'm thinking about buying a MP99, just because it looks so cool, but yes, I don't think it'll do much for my level of playing and I'll just come off as a "poser".
A-lot....... Longer you play the more you spend.. Birdie, Grips , Strings, & Drinks....(+ Club Membership Fee) Endless $$$$$ Rackets, Shoes, Clothings, Bag, and etc. More $$$$$$$$$$$ Tournaments, travel expenses, hotel, & food. MY GOD...if I quit badminton I will be rich and FAT
Iso63 3U x 1 = $60 AT700 4U x 2 = $310 AT700 3U x 2 = $360 Ti10 3U x 4 = $520 Iso 800 x 1 = $80 YonexBag x 2 = $50 BG80 x 10 = $140 Mavis350 x 8 = $112 Feathers x 5 = $100 Grips x 5 = $40 SHB99Ltd x 1 = $120 Shirts x 3 = $90 If I could count stringing, travel expenses, tournament fees, and the Powerade I buy before certain practices and tournaments, it'd be alot more than this. But since this is just about equipment, my grand total is (Grabs out calculator).........$1982.00. JUST UNDER 2 GRAND >< After this post, I've realized what a monster I am ><
i just did a calculation, it is easily over $2500, and that's just only the stuff i can remember... excluding tournament play and club annual fee. badminton-> it's priceless!

Someone just IMed this link. In the last 2.5 years, I have spent over $35,000 on badminton equipment. Real roughly: $12,000+ on shuttles (~$5,000/year) $20,000+ on rackets (200+ rackets) $2,000+ on stringing machines and stringing accessories $2,000+ on strings $2,500+ on racket bags (50+ bags) $1,000+ on grips Oh wait, it's closer to $40,000. *shakes head*
right, now that i've recovered from the shock .... WHAT???? let me whip out my calculator, hmmm, maybe an excel sheet would be better.
omg not even 10 minutes ago i quoted you on your outrageous 5 000$ expenses on the shuttle review and now here is the grand total of everything..... im speachless now. lmao: you forgot shoes and accessories
right, here's what i believe i spend on average in a year (in USD): fees 720 strings 100 grips 40 racquets 300 clothing 60 shoes 100 bag 20 total 1340 oh yes, the fees include court rental and shuttles as i play in a club.
Dang! I forgot: Shoes: ~$1,500+ (20+ pairs) Super Feet: ~$200+ (8 pairs) Lessons: $1,500+ (50 lessons at $30/hour) Clothes: $1,500+ (guess 20 shirts and 20 shorts) I'm sure I'm missing some other stuff.
..how about gasoline, drinks & foods, Master NGP??.. ...having a sweaty, fun workout & socializing while dinking, smashing, breaking & demolishing the shuttles, rackets and shoes.....................PRICELESS.. ..for everything else, there's MasterCard..
WOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!! Goes to show how much our dear panda here loves the game !!!! Need to whip out a spreadsheet to figure out my average annual spend, will definitely be nowhere near NGP's!!
