    Dink,

A quick question, do you steam the shuttles before you play with them for this review? tHanks

Thumbs up Yonex AS-50 is still one of the best shuttles currently

    Hi DinkAlot,

Yes... Yonex AS-50 is still one of the best shuttles currently.

IMHO, it is very much overpriced, therefore its 'Bang For The Buck' could only be rated as 'Average'.

Thank you for your review... there are many shuttles listed there that I have not tried yet.

    Cheers... chris@ccc

How about DTL shuttles? I think they are good too, same manufacturer as RSL. Also, next time when you look to new brand to test, take a look at this. http://shuttlecocks.come4internet.com. I also put down there some comments from this forum users' reviews.

    Thanks for the great work.

over here in sg there seems to be 2 versions of the yangyang tactic 300b shuttles available. not really sure which is the newer/older version. and not sure whether the quality of new batches has deteriorated over the months

if possible, can someone using these shuttles post some pictures of the packaging? so that ill know which received the excellent rating from mr dink here

    Review updated.

Please check the last test date as I find it essential. Shuttle quality is deteriorating significantly. The shuttles of the past were superior and less expensive.

Caveat: I feel this review is becoming more and more flawed (inconsistent) because I have reviews of shuttles from 3 years ago and shuttles that are current. It's unfair to "compare" them. For instance, the current batch of AS50s are really sub-par relatively speaking. The durability is just not there.

Anyway, it is what it is. Just don't try to compare a current shuttle with shuttles from the past, you'll most likely be disappointed.

This is just part of the cost for playing the game. If you hadn't switched over, you won't have known the differences. Now that I have switched over for some years now, I won't go back if I have a choice.

Things have not really changed over the years. A specific brand quality can vary in quality because it is the brand owner or OEM who determines the quality he wants from the manufacturer. For example, RSL Tourney No. 1, a brand I used buy in bulk at extremely low prices, had quality that ranged from very good to rubbish. The more you squeezed the price down the worst the quality. It is like Walmart trying to source Chinese products at ridiculously low prices, and in return you get what you pay. In short it is the OEMs who are short changing us. The manufacturers just sell the shuttles, often without labels on the tube and the individual shuttle, which the OEMs then stick them on. If they want to they can stick RSL Classic labels onto a RSL Silver tube and shuttles, and what can you do?

anyone in uk noticed that the as30's have got significantly worse in the last few months? ie it seems rare they can last a whole game at club/county level, that's kinda disgraceful if u ask me...
