BG66, BG85: for repulsion, feel and control BG80: all-around and smashing BG70-Pro: high tension lovers dream, excellent durability BG65: good all-around but looses tension, excellent durability NBG98: super repulsion for smashers, excellent durability for it's thickness NBG95: excellent repulsion, super smasher and super durability
Same comments as Sir DinkALot. I like BG85 the best because I am a more controled player (ie weak smash) I like BG80 the second for almost the same performance except better durability.
I love both BG85 and 80. I usually use 80 because 85 doesn't last too long for me. Currently, I'm testing a new string by Ashaway, unofficial name is "NanoGut X". It's on par if not better performing than BG80/85 and has durability like BG65 in about 0.69mm version. The thicker version is about 0.73mm and is just tremendous for high tension, bombers. So powerful, yet durable with excellent control. And one of, if not the best at holding tension. I wish Ashaway would hurry up and come out with the string.
I usually use..... 1. BG 85 2. BG 68ti 3. NBG 95 I also would like to try BG80. Mr PANDA gave a good review of this string.
I use BG-80 and BG-85 as I'm a power player with a short action. I've just treated myself to some Nanogy 98 that should be here shortly, and I really liked a .66 version of Ashaway MP that I used for a friend recently. I'm not keen on BG-65Ti for a few of reasons: 1. It loses tension faster than anything else I can think of 2. IMO, the surface has quite a greasy feel that hinders spin shots (compared to ordinary 65, anyway) 3. Rackets come strung in 65Ti and it's my instinct to immediately replace it - bias, I know.
Yep, I agree with Mark A's post. Loses tension fast, slippery, power is just good, not great. The only thing BG65Ti has going for it, it sounds good. It's not a bad string, just that there are many better options.
Usually BG80 is better than BG65ti in every area except durability. If I want playability, I would not go with BG65ti. If I want durability, I would go with BG70pro or BG65. Answer to your post #13, BG80. A perfect all around string. About "forgiveing", it's like you went to a bar with an old friend (good looking female) on Saturday night without your girl friend. You come back late (around 1:00am) and call your girl friend to let her know you got back home safe. Your girl friend waited for you at her home and told you it is OK as long as you are home safe and you did not drink and drive. That is "forgiving". Same as miss hitting a shot and the string can take up most of the shock and say "it's ok, the shot still goes over the net and stay in". That is "forgiving".
1) it's all relative. 2) it depends on what time you've agreed you'd come home. 3) it depends on where you've been till 1am. 4) it depends on when you last bought her flowers/chocolate/diamonds.
I assume you all agree my analogy might be strange, but is is good? 1 am is later? Well, I plead my 5th. I am telling you if you come back at 3 am, you might as well stay out all night. Dear NGP, how late do you stay out on Saturday night in karayoke bar when you need to report to church on Sunday morning?
personally i like BG65 cause its more or less durable at high tensions for the way that i play unless i can find another string that can last me a long time at high tension 26lbs plus (yes its not super high) but yeah. BG65's for me all the way.
