Smile Badminton in Heroes Season 2 - Ep 1 !!!!!

Played by Claire - ailbeit with a volleyball net loosely strung between post.

And the shuttle was referred to as "birdie thing"

Can't complain - good for the exposure of the game!

Mods - if you think that the screen caps might contravene copyright etc, please delete images as you see fit. thanks.

lol knee pads for badminton also i wouldnt say this is good exposure, this is just the kind of thing that makes badminton looked down apon, horrible setup(slump volley ball net wtf birdie etc) and cheerleaders: the girly-est form of life on the earth to play.

Especially if you've got someone as good looking as Claire playing the game at an international level

i don't think its good exposure. it would just fuel the prejudice that is held against badminton.

I caught this too, that's definitely part of the reason why badminton is looked down on, especially when the cheerleaders were making fun of them! it reminds me of the time when I was training at a public gym, and some gymnast girls were making fun of the kids I was training with (badminton!! thats not even a real sport!)

Its definately a bad image for badminton. They still perceived badminton as a low class game. Even the net is loose and the shuttle looks bad. The movie makers still need to learn more about badminton.

haha, i don't think that much research goes into badminton for shows like this.
someone really needs to improve the image of badminton, especially in the states.

In that episode, Hiro finds out that Takesho Kenzei the heroic samurai warrior is a white guy (Sark from Alias). Did this remind anyone else of that "White Samurai" article about Peter Rasmussen?

Default Badminton in the American Series 'Heroes - Tim Kring'

Not sure if anyone of you here are a big fan of the american series Heroes but I saw Hayden Pannetierre (forgot the spelling of her surname) who stars as Clare Bennett in the series playing Badminton in Heroes, Season 2. Can't remember which episode but the game looks like badminton except that the net looks more like a volleyball net in terms of height.

In that instance, Clare asked to have her 'birdie' returned. She called the shuttlecock 'birdie' and so I assumed that's how Badminton is played in most American highschools? Is that why badminton is not a competitive sport in America, relatively speaking?
