Tried my first Yonex 100% polyester badminton shirt. It was very light, but oh boy, it was not comfortable. With that, I meant it doesn't absord my perspiration and I felt hot. Isn't the shirt designed to feel comfortable, or are there different types of polyester shirts?
my personal comments on my dri-fit polyester tops: ashaway, apacs, proace - value for $ kason, victor, mizuno - very comfortable
It may be that you just don't like polyester shirts (I don't at all), I prefer cotton as it absorbs moisture (but it retains it too). I know I'm in the minority as most people don't wear cotton, but I really don't like polyester - I find it doesn't absorb sweat and actually makes me feel even sweatier, for me poly shirts just dry quickly when I stop playing. I have a nike dry-fit - its very light and cool feeling, but not absorbent. I can't comment on Yonex, but not all poly shirts are the same.
i personally prefer Adidas ClimaCool clothing over Yonex VeryCool clothing because i don't see much difference in performance but the Adidas is half the price of Yonex.
To be comfortable, shirts for badminton must have, first good absorbency, and second fast evaporation of the water/sweat held. For hot and humid countries it may surprise you that the best shirts are the very expensive cotton polo shirts. They may cost US$100-US$150 each but they last a life time. But such shirts are not very suitable for cold climates because of their too rapid evaporation, which tend to cool the body down rapidly, leaving you with a rather cold or chilled body. In which case you can use the cheaper cotton polo shirts or even polyster shirts.
Same, I also have a Adidas ClimaCool T-shirt and it works very well. I haven't had a chance to try a Yonex VeryCool so I can't comment on them.
Nope i do not. I am not the one doing the laundry, so i guess i shouldnt be so mean as to wear so many pieces in one session.
You pretty much got it right. I use poly polo golf shirt for golfing and they felt great. However, when I wore my Yonex ones indoors, they felt hot. Not absorbing the moisture at all. Yes, they are genuine. Got a couple as prize from a tournament. The supplier sells true Yonex equipments.
For me, I use Yonex shirts and shorts, with Very Cool. They have Very good heat dissipation and absorption. The ones I am using are the models which are made in Japan.
I have used Yonex True cool and Addidas Clima Cool. Both polo types works ok but ClimaCool is more comfortable to wear as it dries faster. Personally, Addidas sleeveless t-shirt with climacool works best in humid conditions.
I own both Yonex VeryCool and True Cool shirts, the VeryCool is made in Japan while the TrueCool is made in China and the VeryCool cost 3 times more than the TrueCool. Honestly VeryCool is great but expensive, while True Cool sucked! Unless you're willing to pay the high prices for the VeryCool, I'd suggest you to get Adidas Climacool or Nike FitDri at a much lower price.
I think all these so called advance polyester fabrics are only designed for moderate sweating conditions. They work great in dry/non-humid environments. These advance fabrics absorb the sweat and evaporate them quicker than cotton, but it reaches a saturation point where the sweat just are kept on and within the fabric, preventing them to evaporate, espcially in humid environment in many parts of the world. Yes, they may feel very cool when you wear them causually, but they don't help a lot under vigorous exercising situations. I do think that these polyesters gimicks for sports wear are just bullshits. The best still is cotton fabric. That is why you see those football players usually wear another cotton T-shirt under their polyester jersy. Also, with the polyster fabrics, manufacturers can print and have colourful designs on them. Polyester shirts also are more durable and dirts can be easily washed away, this is good for sports especially when there are lots of shirt pulling, falling onto muddy grounds moments. But still, there is no subsitution for cotton. P.S. I have both Verycool and TruCool shirts, the VeryCool ones are better, as they are more similar to Nike's DriFit of whatever they call it, they are more 'porus'. The Trucool one that I've got is more like a dense, tough nylon/polyester shirt. You even feel it is cold when the temperature is around 15-20C in the UK or in strong air-conditioning in HK.
