Hi guys, Have anyone strung any rackets without machine before? I heard from my coaches they use to string their own rackets last time. Any idea what tension are they pulling at?I have lost contact with my coach thus i cant ask him.
I think the old crafties can do it with simple tools (hooks, grip bar, etc) and tons of experience, but only at fairly low tension due to the lackness of support / grip. Even though, the tension was claimed to be low (23lb or below), I am still amazed by their skills.
archers can pull upwards of 30 KILOGRAMs for their bows as for my coach, he uses this rubber cylinder thing. he pulls the string through the grommet then wraps it 2-3 times around the rubber cylinder. its stuck on pretty tight asnd he can just turn the cylinder to string it tighter.
You can buy a Yonex patch kit and it come with several tool a stringer uses including the tension bar.
Yeah. I have my poorman's version of tension bar. I use a broken piler's handle to pull string, when I need to make a knot. I think that follows the same theory.
I've tried string a broken NS9KX after I superglued the broken parts ( for fun, because I was seriously bored. ), and it ended up with an extremely low tension about.. 8lbs, but that was without any tools >_>. I wonder how difficult it is to string a racquet at 23lbs or so just by using hands.
i asked the guy i bought my racquet from to string it at 23 lbs and when i got it it felt like i dunno maybe 20 plus the string isnt very straight. u think it was done by hand?
What machine is it? Is it a crank (lock out) or an electronic or drop weight? Crank need regular calibration. Is the stringer using fixed clamps or flying clamps?
Stringer need to use finger tip / nail to adjust the cross to make it straight, before tension the next one. Whether it's straight or not, it's not a determine factor of what type of machine (or no machine) being used.
