I have contemplated on where to post this for the past 15 minutes and I gave up, putting this in the general equipment section. Today, I snapped my string playing my friend.... And I need to have it re strung, I have a pretty cheap racquet, but I'm satisfied with the feel of it, so I want to get it fixed rather than getting a new one... Problem is, I don't know where. Does anyone know where I can get the job done reliably somewhere in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond or any other nearby areas (preferrably Burnaby)? For a reasonable price as well.... (I'm not sure how much the costs average around, so I'm not sure about how much I should be willing to pay. Any suggestions would help greatly.
If you have a friend or know someone you're on good terms with, you can get a string job from $ 0.00 to $ 10.00 CDN. Otherwise, it's around 10-20 CDN (string included, unless it's an expensive special type). I personally wouldn't pay more than 15 for a job, of course I know someone that charges ~8 with strings included, but I don't live in Vancouver or BC, so I guess my words mean nothing to you,
Most drop-ins have one or two player-stringers who could do the job cheaply. You need to ask around where you drop in. Tad's in Vancouver is reliable but pricy. Special Edition in Crystal Mall, Burnaby might be the closest brick N motar stringer to your location. Other than them, stay away from SportChek.
XD I'm thinking of attending a drop in this week, so I'll look into it, and I'll take a walk around crystal mall to see if I can find it. Thank you! =D
Ahh... I see... =D Haha, I can wait... hm... I'll check back tomorrow morning if he's not up by the time I go to bed...
lolz how do u define best?..most of the tension is pulled by the machine ne way..espicially with electronics, just straighten the string during n after u tension..but if u say he's fast then that's a different story..

Trust me, he is one of the best. If you ever break a string, ask hime to string one for you. You will see why. Master Pete, Sorry to advertise your service w/o your permission.
I question that too, especially if I do request same day stringing with 1 or more rackets when I request it. What is the best? I am sure there are other people called "best" which we are not aware of.
PeteLSD may not be the best but he is a capable stringer. I could vouch for him as could many others who have the opportunity to use his service. If you want same day delivery or a fast service, then he's probably not your man. Stringing may not be his profession but he does it well.
I hope you were joking, as yourself is a stringer. String a racket involves much more than the tensioning. A stringer lack of experience, can make mistakes (i.e. mounting, knotting, clamping, waving, etc) all over the place, and the result could be as serious as damage the expensive racket. Speed is not Pete's specialty. Actually, he's pretty "slow" when compare to lot of shops. However, the quality of the job is definitely better than most.
well..i aint kidding u when i said i was a stringer..fast and precise is how u get stuff done @ a store which requires u to string more than 10-15 badminton rackets a day..anything longer than 15-20 mins is considered pretti slow alrdy no matter how good u are.. lack of experience?..lol
I am not questioning your experience. I am just pointing out that when you string 10-15 racquets a day, you do not have time to pay attention to minor detail like cross strings or straighten out the strings during and after a string job. These little thing does make difference to a good string job. Many if us here who string our own racquet and for friends, we are not stringing to make money, we do it because we do a slower and more detail job ourself and it is cheaper and for friendship. We also know each racquet we string ourself is up to our own standandard. Not someone else. As I said it in other thread before, find a good stringer and make him/her your friend. There might be a adjustment period of 1 or 2 racquet jobs. However, after that, you get a consistant good string jobs after that.
