    Hi All,

I am having a lot of problem with my smashes. I just couldn't get enough power out of my smashes. There are guys physically inferior as me who can smash a lot harder than I can. So I must be doing something wrong. Please help me out. I can't stand not being able to score a point smashing at my out-of-position opponent from midcourt.

wow... you are opening the threads faster than my reply...:D
how do you execute your smashes?
    1. shuttle shall be around 6" infront of your forehead
    2. racket/stringbed need to be square/90 degree with shuttle while contact/smash
    3. wrist snap or tightening grip into contacting shuttle will enhance power
4... other members to follow reply in pronation/supination/arm/jump/body rotate soon etc.....:)

Theres a lot of posts on this but make sure u r side onto the shuttle, & twist ur body so that when u hit the shuttle & land, ur body should be facin the opposite direction.

Make sure u r bringin ur racket arm far enough back to get the extra velocity.

Ur grip should be light before the shot like for most shots but tightenin it up just as u hit the birdie.

    Practice, Practice, Practice is key

if you're jump smashing, try jumping towards the shuttle
also, maximize the use of all the joints in your arm

These are very important points. A light (loose) grip is often overlooked when describing technique. You should just let it tighten naturally any time you accelerate the racket head. One the stoke is complete, you grip should once again be loose.

since he's asking this question, he's probably not jump smashing.

anyway i think it's obvious that your problem lies in technique. there's a search function http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/search.php in this forum. type in 'smash', search titles only, in 'technique/training' forum. There'd be over a hundred relevant threads with a treasure of information.......you can also include other relevant keywords
