I am one of those player are not very excited about the Ti series or the isometric series and staying with the classic carbonex. I was thinking about getting a cab20 long too. I think isometric shape is ugly compare to the carbonex, I like the egg shape, you can't beat the design of nature. I am currently using a cab21 but would like to trade in for cab20 because it longer. Some people doesn't like long racquet because it hinder their defense in the chest area but for me, my defense is lot stronger in my chest area than down the line smash or crosscourt, so a cab20 long will definitely improve my game, and don't forget the smash, it a much bigger swing. So my conclusion is, many pros use it because they like the classic oval shape and cab20 is the only cab that come with 'long' model.

the Carbonex 20 that many of the pros use is not the long version. it is the 'classic' version dates back nearly 15 yrs ago.

I just tried the Carb 20 last week and i think its alright. I used my YY Titanium Pro 60 and switched to the Carb 20 in the middle of the game coz my friend wanted to try my Ti Pro 60.

It was alright in smashing and control but i felt that my Ti Pro 60 was much much better in every shot

Ok my theory is faulty, I guess I have to try the cab 20 out and see. Oh I know, 20 is a lucky number in Asia, escpecially for the chiness, no that not right either. So why is cab20 so popular with the world class player, anyone know?

And the players I believe is using cab20 are:
Ye, Ji, Xia, and Hidayat. Who else use cab20?

Yonex provide all model with different weight and different grip size, why not different length? That another market scheme they miss. I am pretty sure many players like to get a longer version of their favor racquet, not to switch model just to get a longer version.

    RE: Missing a point

    Coming back to this thread.

Vince made a point on why is cab 20 still popular after 15 yrs since 1st appearing.

It has good balance and when the shuttle meets the strings, there is enough flex to feel the racquet on the strings. I only wonder why I made the mistake of trying out the isometric range which was a disaster in cost. Actually, the cab22 doesn;t feel too disimilar in balance but otherwise has stiffer shaft. I use cab20 for singles now and cab 22 for doubles.
Although quite a few singles players use cab20, not many doubles players use it. Can anybody quote examples?

Tony Gunawen used a cab22 in the Olympics final - I could almost read the letters on the shaft on one close up but he then switched to an Muscle Power in the 3rd game.
cab22 for doubles hasn;t taken off otherwise. Maybe it's shaft stiffness:head balance ratio doesn't allow effective smashing. Hence the cab23 which seems to have more weight towards the head yet still feels quite stiff.

i think pros like tony gunawen can smash hard with any good decent racquets. My guess is that tony want to use a freshly strung racquet for the 3rd and deciding game. It is possible that tony had used up all his cab22's in his bag.

    RE: Missing a point

One pro told me one of the reasons for changing racquets is just to try out a new model. I can quite believe a pro can smash hard with any racquet and it doesn't make much difference which racquet is used.

Tony using up all his cab22's and borrowing Chandra's racquet? Would he have so few racquet's in his bag? Then again, that tennis player, Goran Iva......(can't spell) got disqualified becuase he broke all his racquets in one match and didn;t have any left to continue playing. He only brought 3 racquets.

what i meant of used up cab22's was related to its lower tension rather than broken strings. I myself carries 5 racquets in my bag just for club play.
