Hi guys from Singapore, Have you guys strung your racket at classic sports before? the shop owner mr soh will usually ask if you want him to string "hard" or "durable". Hard according to mr soh is that the string tension will be better but at the expense of the durability. And durable means that it will be more durable.

Whats the difference in stringing techniques between these two. Does anyone know?

Just guess what he mean by durable is lower tension usually between 18-24
and hard is beyond that. Came to his shop few months back with friends and bougth some sotx racket D600,D900,woven12 & woven6.My friends strung his racket there,at 28 lbs..just a not bad service. But didn't string there cos there's no ashaway string MP.66 at that moment.

But so far the best stringer in my personal opinion at
1)Larkin stadium JB for high tension
3)Honly Taman Sentosa Tebrau JB for high tension
    4)Permai Sports JB
5)Classic Sports now at Braddle BLK 94
    Anyway you're a stringer in ur profile,i coudn't evaluate u,coz i never send my racket to u b4,someday may be....huh...!!

But for classic even at 25lbs, he will ask u if u want durable or hard. why is that so?

Did you try both of his stringing techniques? I thought Soh refers to his stringing techniques as 'normal' and 'tight'.

Soh will usually string the "normal' way for most of his customers. I find it has a 'trampoline' feel which you may like or dislike.

The 'tight' or 'hard' technique as you call it, is done upon request. Am not a stringing guru and not sure if he pre-stretches the strings. The 'tight' technique feels very crispy but you will need more strength to hit the shuttle. Not recommended for beginners. You will hear a high pitch sound when you plug the strings compared to the normal method.

    PS. sgbad = bertbrainz?

yes, same person. I did try the normal stringing method done by Mr soh, quite good and bouncy but it seems that the tension loses quite fast like drop 3 lbs or so after 3 mths.

the 'bouncy' feel of Soh's normal method gives good replusion when you smash.

Soh's 'tight' method is comparable to say, Sintec Tampines (Ah Bao) and has a 'dead' feel (around 25-26lbs).

My guess is he's done the proportional stringing method on the "hard" version, with the inner mains at a higher tension, progressively dropping down when moving to the outer mains.

I had bought 2 rackets from him, wish I had asked him to do 1 hard and 1 normal instead of the 2 hard so that I could compare them.

Whats the drop of tension like? 1bs per 2strings from the centre? but i dont see him changing the tension on his machine when he was stringing the "hard"
