    Hi all,

I would like to know of places to play in Canberra (session times) other than the ones listed in the ACT badminton website as i will be moving there at the end of the year.

    Regards,

parliament house ;) apparently, rudd and howard are pretty fierce rivals in mens singles. the showdown will be on 24nov2007. i have a strong feeling howard wont be able to return rudd's well-placed smashes this time.

just a bit of comic relief.

I dont think i have enough bs skills to play at the parliament house, although i was thinking of playing at the US embassy, just have to pass all the guards. Rudd might have a strong smash, but being a newb his smashes will probably land out, Howard on the other hand has a strong game plan, but it will be interesting to see "Who reigns supreme". :)

yes, the singles match between howard and rudd is good. Their backup players are pretty funny too. hehe.

Erindale is good... I won the doubles grade A in 1992.

    Funny....

Erindale hall has changed, the management resisted apporaches by Tuggernaong Badminton Club and community groups to resurface the hall for a while. But some time last year there was a heavy rain fall that leaked through the roof, and as such they resurfaced the floor. But quite different to other halls.

    Thanks for the reply jump_smash,

I'm reluctant to play with private groups, as it seems to me they have an invitation only policy. I am interested in playing at the ANU, would you be able to tell me how many courts are available, price and standard of players, but most importantly if the players are friendly?

    Regards,

    D.U.C

    DUC,

It has been a while since I have been there, and noting the club is run for Uni students:

    • So If you are a ANU student/life member (not sure about students from other Uni's, as there was a problem awhile back for UC students) the cost is very cheap for Uni students , otherwise something around $5.00/$6.00.
    • The is no organised games, so players just jump on a court.
    • There a few good players including the organiser- Dat.
    • There are two gyms with eights courts , the club runs in the new hall.
    • Players can be friendly, but you will have to get to know them
    • For contact info see: http://www.anu.edu.au/sport/clubs.htm

    Regards

    Stuart

Not sure what you mean by this, as I currently don't play in any private groups. I am just playing at the UC club which is open to vistors.

    Mate,
I am still playing competitively. Getting old now. Not easy. Coaching is just part time for me. Mostly in Singapore. Let me know if you want a hit sometime. Monash Uni was fun. Played with the Presidet of BV. Great chap. His name is Mr Poh.

Oh ok, are you guys friendly up there in UC? I hear it gets packed up there and everyone tends to stick to their own groups :crying:

I would love a hit, i'm not much of a player, bad footwork, bad technique, but i'm still learning the game.

this is off topic but what do you people think of the change in government? history has showed that the alp does not manage the economy well but rudd seems to be able to change that.

Well the economy is quite strong at the moment, so unless he makes some terrible mistakes, than it should remain that way for awhile longer.

Hopefully he's asian connections will presuade him to put money into promoting "Asian Sports" especially badminton.

We will just have to sit and wait to see what Rudd will do with he's new found powers. Save the cheerleader save the world
