Hi everyone!! I'm wondering if anyone know places to play in Taipei city. I've already tried - unsuccessfully, I must say - the Taiwanese website: http://www.badmintonrepublic.com/. It's a good website but for Chinese speakers I guess. So far, I have been warmly welcome to two places but unfortunately, these places were mainly for beginners. I have intermediate level. Thank you in advance for your help! Olivier.
TAIPEI Zhong Shan Sports Center I just came back from Taipei, I played at TAIPEI Zhong Shan Sports Center, here is a link to their website: http://www.cyc.org.tw/cssc/charge_e.htm
Sorry for bringing up an old thread. I be in Taipei for one week and was thinking if there is any groups that could cater to drop in players? My command of the Chinese language is strictly limited to speaking and therefore www.badmintonrepublic.com is not very user friendly to me.
Hi, I just came back from "Hua Jiang high school", there are people playing pretty much all day in the evening (they say official from 8:30 to 10 but unofficially, people start to play at around 7). There seems to be morning sessions too, starting at 5am. Drop in fee is 250 NTD, though you can often play for 4 hours. e.g. Sunday from 5am to 10am, and from 10am to 2pm. friendly people and they match you up with people. this is the link with a map http://www.badmintonrepublic.com/ph...3&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= http://dadao.myweb.hinet.net/img/MAP.gif

Hey, I'll be going to Taiwan this summer in August, and I was wondering what the level of play is at "Huq Jiang high school". From my previous experiences in playing in Taipei, you must reserve the courts prior to arrival. Is that the same case here? Also, does anyone know of any local tournaments in Taipei around August? I thought it'd be fun to play in one if I could.
hey, i will be going to taipei somewhere in the month of June and was wondering any group still active in playing badminton? any cheap badminton equipments that u know?
For visitors without a car,....mmmm....elmentary schools, any public and private schools near you, you`ll find them doing badminton a lot..........in the city......in the nation....
hello george, I donno if you got a place that you want to go yet, however, what beermonstertw meant was almost all public/private schools in Taiwan will rent their courts out after studuents are off school. People usually rent school courts to host different badminton clubs(or so called "teams") and they are either membership-based or drop-in based. If you go by public transit, this will be your best bet. Hope this will help!
hi yingfan, thanks for your advice Yeah, i was actually looking places to play in taipei. But seems to have none. Perhaps i should stop by some schools that got badminton court and rent it. Usually they charge how much?Perhaps i can play with some taiwan girls there too Anyway, check your pm
I am going to taiwan on business trip this wednesday... will be there for a month... i also would like to find some courts to hang out during my free time... anyone willing to help?
5 professional gyms sponsored by cyc.org Hey guys, there are actually 5 professional badminton gyms in Taipei that are sponsored by Chinese Youth center (cyc.org). Each building is about 8-9 floors and each floor houses different sports (badminton, swimming, deep water diving, archery, basketball, racketball, ping-pong, etc). For badminton, each court is $300 TWD per hour. However, if you go at a non-peak hour, and you pay for one hour, as long as there is no one kicking you out, you can stay as long as you like. I go there during summer time and I have to warn you that there is not a lot of good players. If you are alone, I suggest you go there first, see if there are people you can play with, then you can rent the court there and invite those people to your court to play. You can make quick friends. Here are the URL: http://ngsc.cyc.org.tw/ http://chientan.cyh.org.tw/ http://xysc.cyc.org.tw/ http://cssc.cyc.org.tw/ http://whsc.cyc.org.tw/ I will go back to Taiwan at the end of July for vacation. Hopefully, I can see some of you guys there
Last time we tried to stay there for longer and they didn't kick us out! They only turned off the lights..... :crying:
I may be moving to taiwan shortly and was wondering the general level of the clubs ? With regards to my standard I have been ranked around 20th in England singles / doubles and mixed.
Welcome to Taiwan! I think you can find all different levels of clubs here in Taiwan. If you are ranked 20th in England I think you will need to find a club that has "A"-ranked players or even top "B"-ranked players. I am sure that'd be a lot of fun for ya!
