    Hi Guys,

I have a SHB99m which is simply awesome and is still in good condition other than the traction on the sole not being that good anymore so its easier to slip. Any ideas on how to make the sole "stickier"?

    thanks

agree make sure to wipe it down and then try it out and when your playing in a game every so ofter after a few points or rallies qhipe the sole itself with your hand to get any dust off. Where in calgary do you play? might be the courts are a little dusty or slippery but yeah try both things out

Had the same problem with my SHB-68 and now my SHB-89. the soles had 'dried up' and wiping the soles with wet cloth did not help.

Would moisturizing the sole (like with steam or prolonged exposure to a wet cloth) have any effect? I'm curious about this too.

Wash the shoes once a while, use a brush to gentally clean up the out sole. It worked for me. ;)

thanks guys. Well wiping the sole with a wet cloth/paper towel did help for a while. Just bought a shoe cleaner from sportschek. Will see how that goes next week. By the way, the court IS dirty...damn basket ball players keep dirtying it up (not going to blame other badminton players:)).

Smash_master, I've been trying to get the UofC people to polish the gym, not been successful yet.

ah you play at UofC i use to go there once in a while to play as well might play there sometime again not sure. but yeah the courts are pretty bad and dirth so that deffinetly affects why you feel you dont have propertraction hnestly all you can do in that situation is every few rallies just keep whipping your sole of you shoe. liek if you gto to winter club or glencoe to play you will notice a huge difference and see all the traction/grip that you will have. From expirence yeah that gym isnt the cleanest. Hum maby ill see you there if i go play there sometime what days do you go?

If the gym floor is dirty, it will be slippery no matter what shoes you wear, new or old. Maybe next time before you play, ask the staff to mop the floor before playing, or ask to borrow the mop from them.

usually on Saturday afternoons 1-4pm. But that is depending on whether the gym is booked for badminton. Will try out better courts when i have a car!!

you don't play with the UofC badminton club? we play there 3 times a week.

yeah the floor is fairly slippery. there's not much you can do when there are so many different activities that happen in that gym.

one good thing is that when you go to a dedicated badminton gym (winter club, glencoe, etc) the traction feels amazing. :D

i used to pour water down n just step on it..then move the sole till it dry.I guess it's just to remove the dust. However,it works well for me.Most of badminton shoes soles r made of rubber,n when rubber meets water,it become stickier.
