i strung my at900p with BG66(yonex0.66mm) 24bls ..feel no power , poor hitting sound but super accuracy in fast and slow drop shot... i aslo felt that my at250 and carbonex 8 strung with toalson black colour(cheapest type but forgot the string model) at 24bls feels better and more powerful..any comments?? what do u think is the best string/s and at what tension is best for at900power...
I've strung my at900p and at900t with BG66 but at 26lbs. give u an update to see if it is the same as ur case.
to me, i feel that string and tension is very personal, theres no such thing as ideal string and tension for at900p. If LD were to use bg80 at 31lbs, is that supposed to be the idea string and tension. At the end of the day, it still boils down to one's perspective and feel.
yup I agreed. As i just collected by the rackets i'm also not sure of the tension which is most suited for the rackets using BG66.
This can't be true! 22lbs is like super flimsy... can't hit anything man... won't get a feel at all! I've strung my MP88, MP99 and AT900P up to 26. No problems so far.
It's all personal. Try and "run in" the racket using it for two to three sessions and the actual feel will come. If not good, then go restring again. To get a good feel personally, you may need to try a few times. But try to keep to the same person who does the stringing for you and the same strings. The only thing to is the tension.
it maybe true, i tried bg66 20bls with at800d ...hitting to baseline is no sweat at all..effortless!!!
AT models recommended 20-25lbs for 3U, 19-24lbs for 4U. @ the OP; I think that your string might be too tight; bg66 is pretty thin, so it feels tighter.
I would agree with Athelete1234, bg66 at 24lbs is quite tight since it's a thin string. If you like bg66 try a lower tension say about 22lbs. Overall decrease your tension to see how things goes.
Yes, 22lbs is the recommended tension by yonex. I spoke to the salesperson at far east(main yonex shop) before and he told me that yonex gives warranty only up to 22lbs. Anything more than that might not be covered under warranty. I agree that 26lbs is possible, i have strung yonex rackets up to 28lbs before. But as i said, 22lbs is the recommended, not the max. hope you get what i mean
i think BG66 is more powerful if its strung at a high tension.I strung my Kason Carbon 3.0 at 26 lbs..n hits r so powerful.Control as well.. Most yonex racket's tension reccomendation is preety low.22 lbs is only for lower end like most isometric series,or those which r made in taiwan.Higher ends,like MP,AT,NS..their reccomended tension can go up to 25lbs. However,for yonex rackets,during the 3 months warranty period,the warranty is only valid if u strung up to or below the suggested tension.And if u go above than the recommended tension,then the warranty is no longer valid.If incase u broke ur racket,then yonex wont be responsible for that. But if ur racket warranty period is over,u can strung as high as u want..A lower end rackets can actually hold upto 25-6 lbs,while the higher end can actually hold up to 30+ lbs.It's only about r u dare or not? @smichz- MP models are only recommended up to 22 lbs because yonex just pushed up the recommended tensions only for NS and AT models; MP models are still only warrantied up to 22lbs.
For 20 years playing badminton and used bg-66 90% all the time, then i can make this conclusion: bg-66 best performance at 24-25 lbs, anything higher than that reduce the performance significantly.
No no master yet... i assume that based on speed, anything higher could reduce speed but increase accuracy. that MO about bg-66, although i'm no fans of bg-66 Used it for 90% because it's familiar and difficult in here to get another type of string
update on my at900p with yonex bg66....after 3 sessions of playing and hard smashing, my at900p suddenly unleased its real power. smashing 9.9/10 drop 6.5/10 drive 9.5/10 clear 9/10 i think its because the strings had looses up abit and also i have better understanding on how to use this racket. my conculsion is that this racket is for those who enjoy attacking and killing their opponent !!!
big hitters seldom use BG66, too thin. i agree it's got great feel and repulsion, but not lasting for hard smashes.
