LYB interview: On WMC's win, line judging, etc. (WARNING: cool down b4 reading this)
For those who read Chinese,
http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2007-11-...43317666.shtml
Provoking ... you are warned!
Major points,
Only 2 titles?
- Hectic tournament schedule doesn't do "veteran" players good, so CY/FHF, ZN, XXF failed.
- New scoring system makes the sport more unpredictable
- May skip some events, e.g., Grand Prix finals, without jeopardizing OG qualification
- Since May 1 this year (beginning of OG qualification period), we have never trained for 35 consecutive days. If we skip some events, we will earn a precious 35-day period to concentrate on training.
On WMC's win
- She improved a lot in this year. Her attacks are not as "obvious" (i.e., good) as CHN players but that is compensated by her fast movements.
- It's hard to beat her if CHN players don't have BOTH the stamina and the power.
XXF lost because of pressure and lack of determination?
- No, she just didn't have the stamina to complete the match today
- I don't blame her. This is just the unpredictability of the sport under the new scoring sys
Controversy in line judging?
(note: LYB is digging out the history.)
[1] In this aspect, we the CHN team has been suffering the most, especially when we are in S. Korea. Bingyi and I 'lost to the judges' in the MD final at Seoul AG. Some of the line judges later became their national players, e.g., Ha Tae Kwon. We didn't know the truth for many years until Ha & co. told us what they had done to us.
[2] We suffered the problems many times (e.g., at World Jr this year at KL) but we have never quit any tournament in the name of sportsmanship. It's hard to prevent disputes between players and judges, but we should respect the judges more. In managing CHN team, I've been reinforcing this (to my players). We are a civilized country. Our audience is friendly. Our judges have high quality.
[3] Player challenges judge like what happened today - totally unacceptable! If this happens in some other sports, the consequence will be severe. The badminton sport doesn't do well in this aspect - judges' dignity has not been protected.

the answer to this? PETITION PETITION PETITION!!!!!
http://www.petitiononline.com/bwfpet/petition.html
two wrongs dont make a right.... this should stop now!
What Li has said was that he confirmed the fact that linejudges are bribed. He should be banned... Just because Korea did it long time ago (i'm not saying they did, can someone enlighten me on this?) dosen't make it correct. Shameful. Trying to find excuses....
and what the hell? It is wrong to challenge umpires? Hell, the match referee is there so that when an umpire is challenged, he steps in! LYB, disgraceful, shameful. I spit on you.

Another Chinese report,
http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2007-11-...93317634.shtml
An account of the controversies during the tournament,
(1) GZD/XZB vs. JJS/LYD
More than 10 times of dispute ... the calls were all in favor of CHN. It can't be so coincident that KOR misjudged for more than 10 times. Still, they SHOULD NOT quit the match because of that.
(2) PSH vs. BCL
PSH received a yellow card ... he deserved it because when he made an error, he threw his racquet, kicked the shuttle to BCL's court and crash himself to the net. Too emotional.
(3) CH conceived walkover
The OG rankings don't look good to CHN at the moment. CHN wants 4 players to be among top-4 for obvious reason. Now only LD makes it. With LD being eliminated, CHN desperately needs BCL to win the title. So CH just did his ex-teammate and the country a favor.
(4) THA XD pair vs. XZB/ZYW
At the match point, THA player complained to the empire that XZB's act (raising both arms in front of the net) has distracted the game. The game halted for 5 minutes but THA eventually made it.
(5) LCW vs. BCL
LCW's agony was MORE REASONABLE than the earlier scenes. He threw his racquet twice in the match - in both occasions, the slow motion on TV showed that BCL's shots were "out" and yet the line judges said otherwise ... The final scores do not reflect LCW's real strength.
As the CCTV commenter has said, "BCL is in form today. We shouldn't and don't need to win the match in this way!"
So what about Beijing OG? Korean coach Li Mao argued that the situation will improve as the empires and judges won't be assigned by one association.
BTW, WMC is now touted by Chinese media as "the nemesis of CHN team" ...

this is totally a lie..
i heard the umpire call fault on sudket for raising his hand in front of the net and not XZB, it should be sudket complaining abt why he get fault..
i also don't knw why sudket get fault as he look like not doing anything wrong..

A coach shouting "break his leg" is totally unacceptable and is even more despicable. A coach that buy out the whole team of "lies" man and judge is totally despicable and a 100% pure coward. If this happens in football in Europe, LYB head will be smashed & bleed to death by now. Judges who cannot be fair is not a real judge so what's there to protect is only his head and his life.
I believe sooner or later someone or god will have to shut his mouth forever. This filthiest scumbag in the most despicable living creature on planet earth at this moment.Last edited by Carbonexer; 11-25-2007 at 07:18 AM.
