Is it true that Lin Dan is being kicked off the team next year because he's been playing very bad? I hear from people that this is due to relationship problems. I just want to get this cleared, I personally hope this is a lie.

Is it likely considering that he is China's no.1 player? Where did you hear of it?

No, he didn't. He's asking if it is likely that the Chinese team will let go off him, considering his rank. That's another way of saying the opposite thing. :)

I agree with Cheung, I don't think the Chinese team will let go of Lin Dan.

    oops. I misread.

I read 'It is (un)likely.........' instead of the actual words written by Cheung 'Is it likely...........?'

You should substantiate your claim with a source. Otherwise any Tom, **** or Harry could make up sensational rumours

Okay first of all i'm not bullshitting any of this. I heard this from my father and spent at least 2 hours making sure he wasn't lieing to me and he knows how seriously i take badminton so he wouldn't. He read it from a chinese newspaper just last week. It said that due to China's loss in 2 national matches, Korea and another country, China is planning on kicking Lin Dan off. Even i asked my father "but he's the world #1 they couldn't kick him off, he's in a completely different class even compared to other pros." he just said "Are you stupid? China's filled with thousands of people with amazing badminton skills, some are even better than Lin Dan's the only reason they havn't come out is because they never got the opportunity, but now that Lin Dan's been losing China doesn't feel like giving him another chance." At the moment i'm trying to find that newspaper article and scan it.

although there might be lots of talented young blood waiting at the doors, none of them would have the mental strength and experience that LD have built up from over the years. Definitely not before the 08 OG. I think LD is just not hungry to win 'regular' titles which he owned already. His only hunger now is the OG gold and that is still 9 months away. Even on his off days, i think LD can still beat chen yu, chen jing and the current chen hong. By pushing LD to win everything now, it would only risk injury to him and gold medal at beijing would look dimmer.

But what kind of reason is "oh i don't feel like winning regular titles so i choose not to play my best and lose" Also the thing is although Lin Dan does have the mental strength and experience he also had none at one point. Those things can be developed. Personally I hope Lin Dan stays, but i just want to prove to the people in this thread that this isn't something i made up.

maybe just a lyb tactic to remind lin dan to up his performance.
cai Y and Fu H have slipped a bit lately too, why no rumor of them off the team as well?

With 9 months to OLY, no unknown player in CHN or from the rest of the world regardless how talented they may be has sufficient time to build up ranking points to replace LD...CHN need 3 players in top 4 to qualify 3 players for OLY...to kick out LD at this stage is absurd..CNN listed LD as the one CHN player with the best hope for the golden biscuit, remove him and replace with whom at this late stage of preparation to OLY...show us the documented proof.

i can't see any candidate on the chinese MS roster that would qualify more than lin dan.
he's had the four years to mature into the solid player that he is now. he's had four years to not just build on the already strong player that was before, but on his unforgettable round 1 loss as seed #1 to susilo.

i'm sure he will be looking for any chance he gets to rectify that. he would not allow himself to be booted off the team with just 9 months left before the opening ceremonies.
