Does anyone here still use the natural sheep guts? Does anyone have any feedback on any of these types of strings? Does anyone know if any company still manufacture this type of string? Thanx for all replies
Last time round circa 80's a company in New Zealand was still marketing it , maybe because they had plenty of raw materials, probably defunct by now,
French(?) company Babolat has two "natural gut" strings in their catalogue. I haven't used either of these, but see for yourself at: http://www.babolat.com
Sorry to bring back old forum. But is it possible to buy sheep guts now? Does manufacturer still make them? Wondering if Hong Kong have them
I have used and restrung many rackets in natural gut. Gut has a different feel to the usual strings of today. The two main brands from many years ago were Bow Brand and Babolat. Babolat had a fabulous gut. Gut is difficult to string with and the stringer has to be very careful not to have any twist in the string. This is difficult to achieve and means a stringing job used to take a little longer compared to the multifilament strings of today. In those days we were restringing rackets around 19-24 lbs. I have no idea whether today's gut will take the higher tension but it would be interesting to find out. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
