I think it's almost like a slice shot. the racquet moves across under the birdie from left to right, but the angel of the bidie cuts it so that the bird goes down the line. you really have to be very fast to the net so that you have time to setup. wait with the racqut under the bird and as if ur dropping so the opponent will tend to move forward and at last minute, slice it down the line.

racquet is to the left of your left shoulder, angling toward the right of the net. swing sideways at the bird. before hitting the bird, change the angle of your racquet to being 45 degrees facing the ground INFRONT of you (so basically flat right and leftwise) adjust your followthrough before you hit the bird to go slightly upwards instead of straight to the right side your racquet hits the bird, and it should turn into a lift. my interpretation of the shot, it works for me.

it's not really a trade mark of any bodies. lin dan does that shot quite often. and ignore the commentator (in the first clip), she's wrong. there's no double action, it's a hold and flick (with a sliced action). it's very deceptive because the racquet head goes one way, the shuttle goes the other, making it very hard to read.
Ugh.. I hate this shot. My friend mastered it. Nearly every time I do a slice drop / drop, he pretends to do a netdrop and as I approach the net, he flicks it and the shuttle is way behind my back..
While I agree it looks that way, I wouldn't be hasty to dismiss Gillian Clark. She really knows her stuff; and with such a fuzzy video, there may well be some double action. She will have had a clearer view than we do! She's been wrong on occasion, but very, very rarely.
well, i have been told that Clark knows here stuff. bt i've watched many videos with her commentating...and she always states the obvious. Darren Hall actually provides better commentating. i know that Gillian has was a great player, i don't deny that. it's just her commentating is...too obvious. "That was just a fraction wide." when it's being played on the TV and everyone has a closeup on the line. i've heard worse commentators, like the american on ESPN. so she's not that bad. i'm just curious, but is it even possible to play the shot from the first clip with a double action AND a slice? you'd have to be lightning fast.
Than this would be one of them . I don't see any double action at all, just Chen Hong trying to be smart and Clark on autopilot . Just had a few looks again. There could've been a double action in there although very brief which would give you enough time to make that shot but the poor YOUTUBE picture quality makes it impossible to see ... but sticking to my first comment as I don't see any movement in his arm beforehand.
Again, I agree it looks that way; and if pressed for an evaluation, I would also say there's no double motion. But you must bear in mind: The video is terribly low quality. Pros have incredibly quick hands. It can be hard for an amateur player even to recognise a pro's deception; there's a lot going on in top badminton rallies that most spectators are unaware of. Gillian Clark, however, has experience of playing at this level. In this case she's probably just used the wrong description; but I couldn't say for sure without seeing a high-quality, close-up, slow-motion replay.

he can always pretend to do cross net, then use his wrist to flick, although you need to flick really hard. but this is just my opinion.

Trick shots and feints don't work against those who watch only the shuttle. Keep your eyes glued to the shuttle and you'll never fall victim to deception As the saying goes: "fight with your eyes"
