Just a Singaporean who enjoys the sport
Hello all,
I am a Singaporean, 25 years old. I didn't expect such an active forum when I started googling for people to play badminton regularly with. Nice to meet you!
I have never received any formal training in badminton. I just enjoy an occasional game with friends and badminton happens to be one of my favourite sports. So in a bid to getting fitter in the new year, I hope to play it on a regular basis.
Obviously, I am new. I am not really sure how things work around here. May I ask how I should go about getting started? When and where is the next game and how do I join? I reckon I would need to get my own racket? Is there anything else I would need?
Once again, I am very happy to have found this group and can't wait to get started. Thanks for reading this and have a nice day!

chris is, as usual, right

That thread would be your best doorway into BC's infobase.
I notice that your location is Bukit Timah.
One great place to play would be the Assumption English School on Upper Bukit Timah Road, just before the turn-off into Cashew Road.
Try to meet Mr Tang Eng Han (a former Singapore national player)... he organises the sessions there... and they play every evening.
You should be able to find someone both to partner with and play against
Welcome to BC

Welcome on board Weiling!
There are quite a number of active Singaporeans here who may be of help.
If you look into the thread under "Singapore", I'm sure you'll find many groups playing at different places. You may be able to find one suitable to your needs.
Hope you'll enjoy your stay here.

Welcome to BC forum
Hi Weiling,
Welcome to BC forum and look for the places to play under Singapore and u will find there are so many venues u can choose.
As for Bt Timah areas, there are places like Assumption School, Salvation Army, SMU and NIE. Alternatively u may choose to play at C.C or Sports Halls.
Just look at the venues n schedules of plays, u will find a suitable one for yrself.

Hi Weiling,
I've been thinking about taking up badminton again to keep fit and for fun and such. I'm 26, but I've not played badminton is a long time, maybe a few years. I think I used to be pretty decent when I was younger. I was selected for my primary school badminton squad... and nearly won an interclass contest (haha!), but no never had any formal training, and regret not staying in that ECA when i was younger hahaha.
So given the new year and all... (and i think a somewhat similar to you) wanted to try to and play a sport for fun again... and thought badminton would be the most natural thing to try and take up again, even before i take up anything else.
I live in Bkt Timah too. If you do figure out where others play and such, please let me know or call me along ok? or we can play together?
(or maybe someone on this forum could offer a better solution?)
sincerely,
Yew Meng

Hi weiling. welcome to the forum. I can't help on places to play in Singapore I'm afraid! The only thing you need apart from a racket is a pair of trainers with non-marking gym-soles.
