Hey guys, I've been reading these forums for a while now and I've finally decided to post. Anyway, I'm what you'd call a casual badminton player, I play 1-2 times a week and have only been playing regularly for a short time. I've had a wilson racket for quite some time now. maybe 8-10 years, it's never been restrung. Anyway my question is, would getting my racket restrung make a big difference. or should i just get a new racket? thanks
Never? If you play twice a week and you're indeed hitting shuttles, that's strange ...unless you're using something like 15 or 19lbs What Wilson model is this racquet?
haha well I haven't been playing twice a week for 10 years. I played for a while when I got it all those years ago. then stopped for quite a while, started again, stopped, and now have taken it up again I'm sure the tension is low, it's still got the original strings. So what do you suggest I do? getting it restrung would be the best option for now right? since i'm still a beginner
i wouldn't go with bg-66 if you're just a casual player. i'd go with something thicker and holds tension well. bg-80 to the least.
What wilson model? Is it a 1 piece graphite? If so, restring it. If it is a 2 piece racquet, get a new one.
Get a new low end yonex.....cost of restring it will be not much different than getting a new low end racket.
it's a classic 110, i'm not sure if it's 1 piece or not? how do i tell? and crashandburn, when you say low end what would i be looking at?
also why would going with bg-66 not be ideal for a casual player? what makes thicker better? or is it just that it holds the tension well? and what if i start playing more than 1-2 time a week? oh and thanks for all your help so far!
Well, if i were u, i would just get a new racket and a new string(if i am serious on getting back into this game). It will work well mentally.
back to your original question: Yes, restrinigng your racket would make a HUGE difference, and it would most likely feel like a new racket! Buying rackets is always fun .. But a good advice is to get it restrung anyway.. If the racket feels much better after restringing it, you may want to try out a newer racket as well, but then its a good reference with your old racket with modern strings /Twobeer
haha, you should come over hera and have som "glögg"... Glögg - A Swedish spiced-wine punch containing boiled fruit and brandy (or aquavit). Glögg is served hot. /Twobeer
Re-string is usually the cheaper way to up-grade, just like add more rams to computer. Definitely try it 1st.
Dear Master SH, luck you didn't or else you might ended with "your little head" doing most of the talking instead of the big head. Just joking . . .
