OK, need help tp figure out this:
I like my Carbonex 30ms overall but feel the head-light mp21 easier to use around the net (that is if I ever dare to venture up there). I prefer something tad lighter than my Carb30ms or maybe a tad head light ??

But wondering what you would suggest as an alternative:
    a. Armortec 900 Technique : Stiff
    b. Armortec 500 : Stiff
    c. Nanospeed 7000 : Stiff
    d. Nanospeed 7700 : Medium
    e. Nanospeed 9000Stiff (NOT the extra stiff 9000X model)
    f. MP100 : Stiff ??

    1. How often do you play, how serious are you?
at least once a week for 2 to 2.5 hours

    2. What style of player are you? (Aggressive smasher, net player ...)
    Doubles (front=partner, back=me)
Like to smash and clear from back court. working on touch drop shot

    3. Do you care much about durability or is it all about performance?
    Performance first

    4. How much money do you want to spend?
    no more than $215

    Thanks.

AT series is heavy head so they don't count. I would say it would have to the between MP100 and NS9000S.

Dude it's just like what Phandrew said, except MP100 and NS9000S are kinda over your budget, that is if you found a shop with less price. I suggest MP100 too.

actually, mp100 is well within his price range. iirc, puppysports.com has it for 119 and the NS9000 for 160.

    Erm...
    otterfun is a SHE...

Instinctively, NS9K-s & MP100 would be the strongest contenders...;)

But just for the sake of argument...
Might an AT in 4U be the solution?
    - lighter
    - still packs a punch

By the way, ATs (be it 3U or 4U) are 'quicker' than many think.

Possible to try someone's before you decide (it does come down to how YOU feel about it)?:D:D:D

Couldn't you jsut contact me and I will let you know?
    1) MP100 is discountinued in US for 2 yr now.
    2) NS9000-s is a good option. My friend used to love his MP21 untill it die in a clash. He tried NS9000-s and bought 1 the same day.
    3) Did you try to choke the handle higher on the Cab30 when you are up on the net?
    4) AT is not for you.

I agree with master SH, and #3 is exactly what I do when I rush the net. Cab30ms is not a very forgiving racket, and you need a strong wrist to utilize it. If you have to switch to ISO, NS9K is a safe choice, and NS7700 might suit for you as well.

Try to demo the rackets, before purchase.

Btw, what's the weight and grip size of your cab30ms?

Sorry, SH, I do not want to be asking you all the time -- do not want to be a pest since I am still deciding what to buy. I want to do more research getting my feelers out there.

    I think it is 3U G4.
I did choke up on the racket, Chris taught me that the other day = D and it feels better but not like the mp21 in terms of head lightness.

If G4 is not too big for you, you can add a layer of overgrip on top or even go for a more bulky replacement grip to replace to original Yonex ones. With the additional weight at the handle, the balance will shift more toward the handle.

However, I don't recommend such method, if:

    1. The racket is already too heavy for you.

    2. Current grip size is perfect fit or already too big.

    3. You don't know how to change replacement grip, and/or not sure which one you prefer.

After re-thought about your request, here's the updated list in my mind:

Yonex: MP99, NS7700, MP88 (if you still can find)
    Non Yonex: SOTX Woven 8

As a Cab30MS lover, just can't accept anything negative about it. haha :)

I got 3 Cab30MS 3UG4 US version. Two of them have identical balance point, while the other one is much head heavier, BP difference is about 1 cm. Bad quality control, yonex!

Anyway, here is something I did on the "heavier" version Cab30MS:

    - it has been strung with BG80 at 26lbs, with 3 U-shape grommets on the top. (this works like a wonder. usually, my string snaps on the top. And now, seems that central sweetspot part starts being hairy first. Not break yet though)

    - As I change my gripping all the time, I thought why yonex didn't make it 680mm (to maximize power)? No problem, I can do it. I put two 5 cents coin INSIDE the butt cap and put it back the same way (the staples should be moved forward by the thickness). Together with the U-shape on top, the racket is now officially 680mm with head-light balance. Frankly, when hold the end, the balance is about the same. However, when hold the racket at the cone, it's EXTREMELY headlight. Go, physics (the two 5 cents coins help a lot).

    - With the 680mm length, I can feel the added extra power. But still, I like to make it head heavier. Therefore, I took the coins away, and put in some form in the same place. And still make it 680mm. Man, that's my type. I love the power. Seems it has been a threat to the average players in my club, if given a decent lift.

Well, hope this help a bit and give food for thought.

Well, thank you for spreading the addiction of Cab30MS. ;)

Frankly, playing with Cab (for about a year now) has brought my game to a higher level (as I started late, with ISOs). Now, I feel like I can play with anything. :D

That's true for me too, piece of cake whacking my mp21 (bigger sweet spot area but not as sweet as a Cab) since I am used to hitting the shuttle better with Cab30ms

I still like my Cab30ms. But also curious in exploring other rackets along the way.

Also give credits to other cab30ms fans, as such SH and BlueJeff. They dragged me into the cab30ms world, and I never want to go elsewhere. Well, used to have 8 cab30ms, but now only keep 4. It's a un-forgiving racket for sure, and I feel my age is kicking in.:p
