In a previous thread, a badminton-type game for Nintendo Wii was originally to be called "Deca Sports". But I just recently learned it'll be renamed "Sports Island". Unlike most video games that just use hand control buttons, being able to actually swing the "racket" (Wiimote) and if you want, lunge and do the real badminton footwork so you'll get some exercise while playing the game--which is what some players do when playing tennis on WiiSports--is a lot more fun and exciting. Here's the link to the announcement: http://www.nintendic.com/news/1578 Here's the link to the previous thread (it has links to the YouTube demo of the game): http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47038&highlight=nintendo Now for an unabashed plug for one of the best instructional books on badminton: http://instructoons.com/book/
Konami will market the game in Europe According to kotaku.com, Konami has a deal with Hudson (the maker of Sports Island) to market the game in Europe--so I guess Hudson will handle selling it in the States. In the YouTube demo, if you do a smash-like motion, the character seems to do a jump smash. Then if you do a swing to left or right motion, it does a smash return. If you do a swing up motion (like tennis), it hits the shuttle up. Though you can probably play the game sitting down and just swining your arm, it'll be more fun to actually do the badminton moves, I think. Thanks for your info,BTW can it be install on mobile PDA phone OS like Windows Mobile5 & 6 or Windows Sybian on Nokia N95 platform ?
Maybe they want everybody to be able to play it, so anybody can play it, and not have to move around the place quickly
