As reported in Badzine, Cheah Soon Kit resigns himself as the Ladies Doubles coach in BAM. His last working day for BAM will be tomorrow. Surprise suprise... and he will be heading to KLRC to be their coach.
knowing bam style of management, to me it's not a surprise at all despite what Cheah Soon Kit has done to women department. i've been following bam since i was 12 and i'm to sick looking on what had happened. Not sure with other country, but personally i think this what happened when it's being managed by politician.
Cheah Soon Kit to leave BAM to join KLRC ? . It is not a surprise that CSK would leave BAM. I can still remember your previous comments posted earlier this year, as located in this thread: http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showpost.php?p=510825&postcount=11 .
It's not surprising, at least Cheah is still in Msia. With his credentials (as OG silver medalist) he could have gone to other countries like Tan Kim Her, he certainly had better results as a player.
While CSK had achieved more as a player in TC, OLY...as a coach, he has to prove much like Rexy or TKH...therefore I can't see CSK being in demand as a coach in other countries other than MAS.
Agree with you on the management part of BAM. But thats Malaysia Boleh. Anyway, I think the move to KLRC may be a good one for Cheah Soon Kit as there will be no politicians to bother with.
At the moment Rexy will be taking over the job for Women's doubles until a suitable candidate is named.
Just for the moment until a suitable candidate is name. Like what i posted earlier Chang Kim Wai will most likely take over the helm.
i wonder why we don't hear about more of the some of the former great WD players coaching the next generation? it seems most of the ladies coaches are still men.
You have a point there. But most Former great WD players are coached by men too. But i guess not many women want to be coach.
yeah, it's just odd. i would have thought that they would be able to contribute more insight into WD having played it. but then, what do i know?
MAS Badminton: Cheah Soon Kit resigns from BAM Well... This was reported in The Star Online News, on Friday 28-Dec-2007. ====== ====== start article ====== ====== Badminton: Soon Kit resigns By RAJES PAUL PETALING JAYA: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) were served with a big blow when their national women's doubles coach Cheah Soon Kit resigned yesterday. The National Sports Council (NSC)'s elite programme director Ariffin Ghani confirmed that the former doubles star Soon Kit had quit the national body. “I had a meeting with Kenny (Goh, the BAM's general manager) today (yesterday). I was informed by Kenny that Soon Kit had given his letter of resignation to the BAM,” said Ariffin. “I have asked Kenny to submit an official letter on Soon Kit's resignation to us (the NSC). We want to know why he resigned. We will discuss this issue when we meet the BAM during our next working committee meeting,” he added. Time to move on: Women’s doubles coach Cheah Soon Kit (centre) talking to Fong Chew Yen and Mooi Hing Yau after they lost to Japan's Kumiko Ogura-Reiko Shiota in the second round of the World Championships in August. Soon Kit's contract ends on Dec 31, 2007. The absence of Soon Kit will be a big loss for the BAM. Under his guidance, the women doubles players – especially the current number one pair of Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty – had achieved great milestones. They won the SEA Games gold medal at Manila two years ago. They were also the gold medallists at last year's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. This year, the duo defeated world number one pair of Zhang Yawen-Wei Yili of China in the first round of the Danish Open in October. The BAM will now have to find an able replacement for Soon Kit to ensure that Eei Hui and Pei Tty's preparation for next year's Olympic Games in Beijing will stay on the right track. It is learnt that Soon Kit has agreed to join the professional outfit KLRC Bhd, helmed by Datuk Seri Andrew Kam, next month. Soon Kit will be in charge of former national women's doubles players - Joanne Quay, Lim Pek Siah, Chor Hooi Yee and newcomer Haw Chiou Hwee. ====== ====== end article ====== ====== .
