So i just got my racket restring in 23lbs. But when i try to feel if the string is 23lbs, i found out that the string is not as strong as i thought. Then i tried to feel my old racket's string and find out they have almost the same feeling. So is there any other way to find out the tension of my racket?
1) do a search. your question has bee asked before. 2) 2 different model racquets will feel different even at the same tension. 3) were both racquet strung by the same stringer?
next time try to maintain on one stringer if you're satisfied with his job. it's hard and almost impossible to determine string tension on 2 different machine like SH said. the easiest way, and if you already experice like SH, just hitting the string surface with your palm, then listen the tone. Higher tone sound means higher tension, but still don't know the exact tension. don't be fooled by tension matter, as long at certain tension you fell playing better, then it suit you already. Read the sticky about string tension for the explanation. cheers..
I agree, tension is just a number... I bought a calibrator, after revamping my machine, and it's now collecting dust.. Some guys says he strings his rackets at 35lbs, according to his machine (he knows its way lower)... I propose he uses my calibrator... "what for? I have a tension like, I couldn't care less about the number" -jerry
I think if you have a reference racket, say a 25lb one, you can probably tell roughly what the tension on the other rackets. But then you will have to have similar string.
