Yulianti Adityawarman, Andreas Ahmad, Tontowi Ahsan, Mohammad Alamsyah, Yunus Dasuki, Yonatan Suryatama Fitriawan, Devin Lahardi Hidayat, Taufik Akbar Kurniawan, Fran Maheswari, Nitya Krishinda Mundiasti, Rani Novita, Jo Nugroho, Anggun Nurlita, Lita Nursugianti, Endang Polii, Greysia Poluakan, Natalia Christine Ratnasari, Fransiska Rijal, Muhammad Septano, Bona Sugiarto, Tommy Sukmawan, Rian Tedjono, Andre Kurniawan Wijaya, Rendra Yulianti, Maria Kristin Yuswandari, Aprilia Frans/Rendra will play in Austria International Series a week before German Open.
That's quite a huge squad....good for the backup singles players and doubles pairs. Djarum will rely on Andre Kurniawan Tedjono, Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki and Rendra Wijaya/Fran Kurniawan to win some glories. Pelatnas will rely on Tommy Sugiarto, Maria Kristin, Fransisca Ratnasari, Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan, Jo Novita/Greysia Polii, Lita Nurlita/Nitya Krishinda, Yulianti/Nathalia Poluakan, Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita, Tantowi Ahmad/Yulianti, Mohd Rijal/Greysia Polii, Anggun Nugroho/Nathalia Poluakan.
Well, INA is not involved in the Thomas/Uber qualifiers the preceding week, so makes sense to send the squad to Germany. I don't think most of the Asian nations involved will go. Definitely not Malaysia, anyway.
Huge team but they are all bunch of yoyos anyway so not much of a point.....They are not going to win anything
No, they are not yoyos... Yoyo = up and down. On the contrary, their performance will be predictable and most likely be like what badMania wrote in the German Open draw thread... Yes INA won't win anything in German Open. Korea might win MS and MD. But the young INA squad will get valuable match experience. That is the main aim of our huge squad in Germany.
Exactly! Esp for players who are expected to rise up in the future like Rijal/Grace, Bona/Ahsan, Yuli/Lia, Towi/Yuli, and of course the Djarum players like Andre, Rian/Yoke and Fran/Rendra. Meanwhile, the Olympic hopefuls like Maria Kristin, Rani/Endang, and Jo/Grace need more points to secure their places.
You know, it could be just experience that the INA squad lacks, not the talent. I mean the young ones and the women's singles. Didn't see them feature in so many tournaments.
Rian-Yoke are going on Saturday 8 pm. I hope they will go to SF, or at least QF! Or maybe even to the final~~~
Yeah, Rian-Yoke's 1st opponent is very tough [if in-form]... but if they pass these good Japanese players, then I predict they shall have it easier for the next 3 rounds... Play one point at a time, Rian-Yoke...
Note: the Japanese could be suffering from jetlags, esp since they will depart to German on Monday We all hope that Rian/Yoke can clear this tough first hurdle But, being their first match this year, it might not be a good omen....they are probably still rusty
Rian-Yoke and Fran-Rendra got to play sparring partner to the Singaporean National Team for basically all of last week. Won all their matches, actually... So those matches must have shaken some of the rust off...
tats one big team man... wonder how many could go beyond q-finals?? cuz mostly juniors.. hope for some breakthrough..
Optimizing match exposure Optimizing the exposure for match experience is not easy as it involves time, effort and money. Certainly it is important that the young talent be exposed to a great variety of conditions and opponents to prepare him/her for the future. That assumes that he/she learns every inch of the way at every opportunity. But in a competiton like the German Open, the player's learning curve could be stopped short if he meets with a top ranked opponent in the first round or worse in the qualifiers when he is eliminated in a relatively short time. How much could he have learnt in that period? He would have to train harder to be sent to many more good class tournaments and this would take away much resource. On the other hand, a competition like the preliminaries of the TC/UC offer more exposure time and different opponents as different countries are involved. This seems to be more productive to expose the young talent. But, alas, only a relatively few could be selected to represent the country in team events like the TC/UC and with so much talent available in Indonesia and China, only the best of the talents are chosen.
Who is Endra Kurniawan?? How old is the guy...never seen him before and where are the other Djarum singles like Dion Hayom Rumbaka, and Ari Yuli Wahyu??
