Yup, Gade was like a power packed Asian player ala Lin Dan, only with better footwork. Hendrawan does great deception, not crazy tricks. I would rate Sigit and Zhao Jianhua's tricks as crazy .....

Sorry, no videos then, heck, not even this forum existed then.

    Thumbs up Hendra-Awesome-Wan

If you've seen Hendrawan in deceptive action, it'd be very difficult to vote for anyone else

    LOL... that's a good one.

It's tricky because most of the time, you would expect a top pro to be able to serve a long serve that actually land "in" the court.

also, forgot to mention.....XXZ is pretty deceptive as well, especially his post-olympics(2000) era.....but i reckon his style pretty much the same as Chen Hong.

i believe Xia's strokes were deceptive, not so much that he had deceptive trick shots that won points just like that...where as Chen Hong, could win points just like that with a trick shot

Every player has a few tricky deceptive shots. But overall, the master has to be Hendrawan. Others aren't even close.

i realize that. but this thread is called the "trick master"...and it looks like a trick shot to me you don't mean to tell me that even taufik or sigit put their rackets around the back or between the legs and know that it will contact the bird, or rather that they're accident shots? chen hong saw the bird, willed it over the net; thus, trick shot if shots are suppose to be deceptive, i hope we won't see much of taufik shots because they're more trick than deceptive (notice i realize there are some). deceptive would mean the shots have fooled the opponent into something else, and it is an instant point.
