Would you guys recommend i replace the factory strings on my MP-21 with BG 70 Pro at 22lbs? I looking for durability but some power on my smashes as well. What're your thoughts? The alternative to BG 70 Pro is the BG 65 Ti and becasue of the bad review in got from dink, im reluctant to string with it.
70 - Able to hold high tension, 2nd grade solid impact feel and the repulsion is slightly better than BG-65. 65Ti - 1st grade soild feel when impact with the shuttle, last me for 4 weeks before I feel the tension was drop. Repulsion is good. 75Ti - Slightly better than 65Ti. Why don't you tried BG-80 ?
ooops..... i raise my hand for 70pro in term of durability. But my interpretation for the word DURABILITY not only when the string snapped but also inclusive the drop of tension because it lost the fun when tension dropped.
Strung my mp21 with BG80 at 25# on 10/25/08. Great sound, good power. Still holding tension well, playing once or twice a week for 3 hours each session. Mostly used by beginners who tend to hit off-center. when I play with it, the sweet spot is nice and the hard feeling of the BG80 also provides spilt-second accuracy of shot placement provided by the 25# high tension. I must say the higher tension makes the racket extremely sensitive to any slight movement in the racket face for shot placement. You have to really know where you are hitting and hit consistently well to enjoy the string and tension. No string breakage yet.
look at dinkalots string guide and try out some of his favorites, but remember your mileage may vary and different tensions will affect your individual feel so you have to try it yourself. A lot of people like ashaway strings, personally i played the micro power orange on a woven 8, and its nice and crisp esp on the defence, additionally on the offense its no slouch, but didnt give the same zip i felt on the bg80, then again i played bg80 on my old woven 7
Just strung the old Le Fleche 140 grams training racquet with BG-70 Pro Royal Blue to 35 lbs X 38.5 lbs (adjusted crank tension) ! Popped two sets of BG-70 Pro before final success. Had to method clamping method.
the BG70 string is perfect for someone looking into changing their string but not wanting to deal with it breaking easily. its not weak with power, you just need to get used to it. call me weird but i play better with BG70 on my woven 8 than i do with BG80 on my MP99. i never got used to BG80, it just doesnt feel right. it may be because i have not played with it enough though. in any case, BG70 is a good upgrade from stock string because it trains your wrist strength and timing to hit on the center of your string bed, rather than relying on tension and the string itself to do the work. and the tension lasts forever. i havnt strung my cab 8200 in over a year and its still at a solid 20 lbs.
I'm currently using 70pro @ 30lbs and it's pretty good. Thinking about changing to nbg95 though. Any thoughts?
70Pro is very durable indeed, but the it is by far the worst string that I have ever tried. But I must say I have not tried it at anything over 25lb. 65Ti feels very good at high tension, but like many other said, the tension drops very quickly as well as the solid feel. My favorite is still BG80, both at high tension with the newer generation of rackets (26-28lb) and lower tensions (22-24lb). It feels different, but I maybe I have got used to the feel for, I don't know how long. BG-66 is exceptionally crisp but you can destroy it within the 21 points at high tension. In my opinion, the Nanogy95 and the BG80 can be quite durable at 22lb on the MP-21. Just make sure that you 'inspect'and 'align' the string back to a uniform pattern from time to time during your play.
I totally agree with you that it's the worst string in the world below 25lbs... I actually cut it when it reaches anywhere that low. Go a few lbs above 25 and it starts waking up
