badminton in penang (island)

Greetings to all

I will be in Penang from 13-18 April n will stay at The Guerney (8 Persiaran Gurney, Georgetown). Is there any place that I can go to play near my hotel? Thanks!

there are a couple of halls to play nearish your hotel (ranging from a 5 - 15 minute drive), no where walkable though. problem is, in penang, as you'll see from the posts above, there aren't really any clubs where you can just join to play. you really need to know someone who already has a group playing to join them. hopefully one of the penangite BC members will adopt you.

damn, if only i was back in penang, so many new kaki!

Name of hall/school: Permata Complex
Location: Farlim, Air Itam
Number of courts available: Not sure. (Quite a number)

Name of hall/school: USM (not sure if non-students can use)
Location: Sungai Dua
Number of courts available: Not sure. (Quite a number)
Parquet floors

Maybe u all can try ppl's condo or apartments that have badminton courts? Can try to ask around n rent.

There are loads of courts in Penang, the problem is you need to have your own gang to play as no one is willing to open up and let you join them here... weirdos haha

Oh ok... I'm currently gangless too. Gang lost after everyone left school n went to uni or work. The rest of the girls i know in uni ain't so good, not so sporty type n a lot of em too scared to play with me

Not really terror lah... Just too powerful in smashes n stamina compared to my 'soft' girl friends. Maybe will have to ask Simp84 or Lolabunny they all if he/she wan to play during my holidays next month. Have to take one month break for exams now

. When u're back in Nov, we Penang kakis should try to get a game going

Hehehe... More like learn from u. Still 'young' n not that good yet. Plus I assume u're a guy? Guys are usually unfairly born with an advantage of being better in strength. So u 'pang chiew' also ya? I can't win against intermediate/high intermediate guys yet. Hopefully can learn more

PM me to get my detail.. give me a txt if u wanna come.. it is RM3.. but crappy shuttle.. so if u can bring some shuttle that will be good just incase we ran out..
Don't expect top standards from our college players..

yeah, but i'm getting old and fat, so that cancels out the guy strength thinggie. anyway, badminton is not about strength! hahahah.

I'm a guy.. been many months already since I play singles... now I'm overweight.. so i need to find a weekend singles kaki lol.. I have another friend who I think can commit to it too...

Peak hour = RM 9/hour.
Off peak = RM 6/hour.
Flooring = parquet

12. St. Xavier Primary School - somewhere near Tmn Lumba Kuda
13. Chung Hwa Secondary School - Island Park
14. Holy Spirit Church - Island Park
15. Batu Lanchang Market
16. Olympia College - last time MHS - they do rent out the court. But not sure now.
