    Hey !

I saw many threads speaking of this string : Micropower from ashaway. But when I look on some online shops, as mybadmintonstore.com or badmintonshoponline.us, I see that they are different micropower strings. The one from MYS.com is a 0.66, and the one from bso.us is a 0.70. The second one is a titanium string too. In a french shop, I found a micropower 0.70 but not titanium. So guys, when you speak about the micropower string, which one are you talking about ?

The .66mm Micropower (usually labelled A68ti) is the Asian version of the string, while the .70mm is the US version. The .70mm MP comes in Ti and non-Ti. To complicate things further, there is even a US .73mm MP-XL

So when someone only mentions "Micropower", you got to check their location or the packaging.

The outer thin coating is titanium, that is all. In fact such a description is misleading as the bulk of the materials in the string is not titanium. The same goes for so called nano strings.
Micropower in Asia are custom made for the Asian distributor and is different from the US version. The Asian version comes in one size, 0.66mm, and has 4,000 microfilaments vs the 3,000 for the US version. The Asian version is a better string mainly because of the additional 33% extra microfilaments. The titanium version has been discontinued in Asia although there are some old stocks with some dealers.

ooh long time I didn't see this post . :)

daylight, I have tried the us and the asian version, and this is what I can say :

Both are really good strings, and myself I prefer the US version because it's more durable, and it was better for net shots. For all others shots, both were the same for me. So I think the Us version is the best choice, but I haven-t tried the ti version, but I don't think it can be better.

I know it now : the ashaway micropower IS my favorite string.

    Terminology used in the U.S.:

    MP = MicroPower (0.70mm)
    MP-XL = Micro Power XL (0.73mm)
    MP-Ti = Micro Power Titanium (0.70mm)

MP-Ti has very good repulsion/power but durability is lacking and it's a bit slippery. For me MP is better hands down. MP-Ti is a cool dull, gray color though.

You really think that the micropower is close to the bg 85 in term of durability ? Because mine lasted more than a month, and that's about the same as for the bg 65, and that was at the same tension.

i dun think the MP can be has durable as the 65, the 65 is just lasts insanely long hahaha. i think i'm gonna opt for the MP XL this time, so it'll hopefully last longer hahhaha.

    My experience:

I break strings just about every time I play. How many times have you used MP? I have gone through close to 100 sets. BG85 about 50 sets. BG65 about 50 sets.

MP is nowhere near as durable as BG65. If you mishit at higher tension, it will break quite easily.

When I was using MP at 31lbs., I was consistently breaking 2 strings every time I played. BG65 does not do that, not even close. BG85 won't either.

So for example, my worst two weeks of breaking strings, I broke:

    2, 2, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3: about 20-21 sets of MP in two weeks. That won't happen with BG65. :p

MP-XL is not as durable as BG65 either. I've been using MP-XL the past few weeks and MP-XL breaks as well. Not as fast as MP but still does.

if u a noob:D, long durability has value. One client of mine replace his bg65 once a month, and he only plays 8 times/month. A string that lost tension is good as dead for better players.

once a month is ok, that's about the interval i change mine at, but once a week get's expensive $$$$:crying:, yes a string that has lost tension to me is of no value as well.

If i get micropower strung, do i use my normal tension or 10% lower like in the vectran strings (BG 80,85), cause i've only used vectran strings before, and i need some guidance.

You should string MP about 2lbs. higher than you BG80/85 tension.
