It's minor. Not not like the MP88 is top of the line! heheh, however it is a good racket. Why did you rip the tape off anyways?

That is normal.Next time, don't wrap it too high.It happends to my AT900T as well, but luckily, only the lower part of the cone..its paint ripped by the grip sticker.Yonex paint chips easily..so,be careful next time.

To prevent this from happening, you can wrap the overgrip backwards. So.. the starting point will be the ending point, and it wont damage the racquet at all, and makes it look neater. Many of the pros like LCW, Shoji Sato, etc do this.

I thought the codes are laser into the material ?
Is it because your tape lifted off the chipped paint in that area ?

It's engraved with laser, then covered with white paint.

Lucky you say the MP88 is a "good racket" or else.....hahah! It is the only racquet in my family. I don't have a big family of raquets like the people who posted pics of their 10+ raquets so I have to cherish this one. But yes, it is still usable and now I do wrap the grip backwards and just use that sticky end part...Oh well, at least it is not broken in half!

Or just use the tackygrip (spelling?) grips. ie the ones with no sticky side at all. Wind them on tight and secure at the finish with the supplied sticky tape. That way, when you eventually replace them, you don't find yourself removing half your racquet along with the grip.
