BWF calls off EGM 26 February 2008 In a dramatic move yesterday, the BWF Council called off the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for this Friday just four days before the meeting. The BWF Council had originally called for the meeting to try and terminate the appointment of the President Dr Kang. The meeting was planned to take place in Kuala Lumpur on 29 February 2008. Many delegates from Europe and around the world had planned to travel to Malaysia today (some had already left). The BWF Council called for the meeting due to their dissatisfaction with Dr Kang forming a foundation to support international youth projects. Badminton Europe did not feel that such an issue needed to be discussed at an EGM but could be dealt with at the Annual General Meeting (in just 10 weeks time) and has therefore been pushing the BWF for many weeks to cancel the meeting. Now that the EGM has been called off by the BWF Council at such short notice it leaves many delegates frustrated and unsure of what to do with their expensive airfares.
