I really don't know what's happening to RS! He didn't even play in the TC preliminaries. Can somebody enlighten? I hope he is still training for the Beijing Olympics, but without international matches to fine tune his performance, there is not much hope that he could survive even the first round. Or is he still beset with injuries?

Or is the SBA earmarking Kendrick for the BO and allow him to collect more ranking points to qualify ahead of RS, since Singapore could only send one player at best?

    I'm really disappointed! :(

that doesn't make sense. it's not like SBA doesn't have enough funds to send both players. also, i don't think they'll get in each other's way too much, except by an unlikely coincidence if they are drawn together.

    is he injured?

Injury sounds like the most plausible explanation for RS's withdrawal.

Peter Gade has also withdrawn, so Andrew Dabeka gets a spot in the main draw.

So, what is PG's reason for his withdrawal? Andrew Debeka is one lucky Canuck as I did not see him making it out of qualifying.

Peter Gade is still trying to recover from illness which has bothered him ever since Copenhagen Masters.

Yes so he did. He also took part in Korea Super Series. Both of these events was being played with illness(pneumonia) and a broken rib. He needed the ranking points, but can no longer afford to take chances with his health. Now he needs to recover fully and get into a more stabil period of training as there is a lot of important things comming up. European Championships, Thomas Cup finals, Olympics...

At least that is what the media here in Denmark says!

Apart from that, withdrawing from All England wont mean too much to his ranking as he lost in the 1st round last year. If he chooses not to play Swiss its a different story as he went all the way to the semis last year.

PG's spot for the Olympic should be safe. I can't fathom Joachim Persson being able to overtakes him in Olympic points.
