Default Shoulder Pain In This Position

I really need some solutions for this shoulder problem. It hurts when I do this like in the picture.

Basically if I push against the arm when it tries to go up it hurts. It applies even if the arm is outstretched, but it hurts most when I'm in the position like in the picture or to the sides. Not much when I'm trying to press it down when my arms are stretched upwards.

It doesn't hurt when I do overhead shots. And only very little when I do underhand backhand clears, of course because its in a position like in the picture.

I've been taking Glucosamine pills for awhile. Anybody have any suggestions?

I think your best bet would be seeing a doctor or hold the baddy off for a while. I got pains on my arm too, left side of you fingers that muscle

See a doctor, preferably a sports specialist.

My guess would be tendon impingement. It's worth finding out soon, because impingement can easily become chronic or develop into tendon damage.

It may take you a while to find out what's really going on. Get the process started early.

I think I know what might be the problem. Have you been doing a lot of racquet swings, in particular racquet swings without hitting anything?

What happens is that when you swing, you're doing stuff like internally rotating your shoulder (and explosively too). However, think about this: if you accelerate an object from rest to a particular velocity, at some point you need to either decelerate it or have it fly off from your body. Since your body doesn't want your arm to fly off, it works to decelerate you, e.g. an external rotation moment to counteract internal rotation movement.

Every time you swing, your external rotators have to contract eccentrically very quickly to decelerate your arm. Eccentric exercise typically does a lot of muscle damage. When it is fast eccentric exercise, the soreness can be quite a bit greater.

My advice is to just take a few days off, and see if you feel better. If you do, then you know to be more careful regulating training volume in the future. If you don't, then you might want to get it checked out.

Yes I actually do. I will try to slow it down and rest too. I believe its the joint though. It definitely doesn't feel like muscle.

However, I just remembered. A year ago in my Sophomore year I was playing tackle football and I slipped off of this guy and landed on my shoulder. My shoulder became kind of shaken and I tried to pick off some grass off my face and the arm was naturally trying to pull it down. I could never bend my arm back too much after that. I never notice any problems when I played badminton so I never thought too much of it until now.

I've also had a stinger playing real football during freshmen year on my right shoulder too. While practicing tackling.

I went to a physiology teacher, and he says its some sort of pinching or something? O_O? And told me to take some rest, ice and Ibuprofen. -__-
