With all these upsets(?) in the first round, how many of you say it's down to the 21 pts scoring system? As they supposed to do, bring the games closer for all.

    But now it's getting stronger.

Only in women's doubles is there practically no effect.

You can't just look at the result.
The Chinese women are dominance because the opponent are too weak to their standards. I think the 21 pts actually are helping to close the distance of the WD and MD a lot. With some speed and cut down the errors, any team can beat any team on a good day.

While in MS and WS, I think the competitiveness are comes from the rise of standards of other country MS. Most of the upset game are convincing to me. Im not saying the new score system didn't help at all, but they are still other things like tactic, on court performance that can play a part. While in MD, you go in with full speed anyone cant caught up with, and not making silly errors, a win is almost certainly.

i think that is because the level of play of CHINA player and other countries are still too wide. i see CHINA dominating WD for at least a few more years. :)

although several CHN top players refused the 21 pts scoring system, I still think this system is good to promote badminton as the #1 racquet sport in the world.

I still prefer 15 point system for singles... More excitement for my liking...
