i got my new racket strung with bg 80 at a higher tension then it was b4 with bg 65. but for some reason i am able to press the new string more with my fingers ? is bg 80 more elastic so that it feels like its looser by pressing down on it?

if by pressing with your hand, at all tensions, bg-80 should feel tighter than bg-65 due to 80 being thinner in diameter

That shouldn't be happening. Are you sure the stringer is reputable? I have the same situation. I had a Bg-65 @ 21lbs, then a Bg-80 @ 24. Alot tighter. Its probably dropped to like 22 or 23, but it still takes awhile to get use to the higher tension.

I've had a Mp-45 strung with Bg-65 @ 22lbs. Now an old 2005 version Ti-10 with Bg-80 @ 24lbs. Its a big difference. It might be the racket's flexibility but the Ti-10 is much tougher. Are you sure your stringer is reputable?

All things being equal, BG-80 should feel stiffer than BG-65. Indeed, Yonex advises that BG-80/85 be strung 10% looser than non-Vectran strings to compensate for the difference.

The only explanation lies with the stringing itself. If you used two stringers, their machines might not be calibrated the same way, or one might have used a electronic (BG65) while the other used a crank (BG-80). It's also possible that one stringer was just not up to scratch:).

thats what i'm guessing well ill probably know when i get my old racket back from the stringer i asked for it to be 20 pound. If it feels tighter than my new one that was SUPPOSED to be 23 pounds the new one was obviously strung not to what i asked.

I didnt string them in the same place thats another reason i think its off. But comparing it it is WAY of i think its at lest like 3 to 4 pounds looser from 23( an approximation)

Clearly 1 of the stringers (mostly, the one with BG80) is not up to the standard of his/her work. BG80 @ 23lb should no where near to be loose, unless you always use BG65 @ 26+lb or more.

BG65 is a funny string, below 24lbs, it's feels looser than other strings. mine strung at 27lbs on the other hand, feels hard like wood. maybe thicker strings will only reach their elastic limit at higher tensions? but there is no way that BG80 at 23lbs should feel loose, be it by touching or during play.

Isn't any string bed will feel harder than wood if you push to 27lb or higher?

Ya for sure i think i end up having to cut my strings and getting it redone because of how loose it is. Im positive my old racket was at max strung at 20 pounds with bg65 and my new one strung with bg 80(supposed to be 23 lbs) feels even looser.
