    DROP!
Has everybody thought of doing a jump drop?! Haha.
It could be kinda deceptive I guess, since your opponent might think that your going to do a jump smash, but your actually going to do a drop.

This freeze-drop is quite commonplace in men's doubles.
Markis Kido and Koo Kien Keat use it quite a lot.
However, the most frequent user seems to be Sudket Prapakamol :)

In time i also jump n drop it more sharper n deeper u can make it a slice too, jumping up is good b'cos u can do lots of thing like when u jump up u can put a straight drop cross drop,or straight punch if u r playing double can punch to the centre of the baseline in btw left n right handed players....

    i do this so often....
when there is a high shot, i jump, and drop it a couple of times in a row. Afer i get one or two points off of this, the opponents catch on, i smash it...

I like to jump slice. Better angle and tighter to the net. Also let out a grunt or shout like you are going to smash. This is even more deceptive.

deffinetly have done this before, its a form of deception so its a good shot to use and you can also play lots of other shots off of it liek others said. jump up and when there expecting a smash to come at them put a pump clear or a slice etc. its useful as long as you dont overuse it and your opponent doesnt catch on to a pattern you gotta varry it up and well yeah.

Certainly to deceive the oppistion you can jump drop, smash or clear. if you have the right technique you shouldnt telegraph what shot you are going to play next.

Ive always been told that when you hit the shuttle you should never touch the ground (keep in ming this is only when you have the time to) and if you have lots of time jump becuase its a lot harder for your opponent to figure out what shot you're going to do. When I play agaisnt people I always do that cuz I smash a lot, because its effective, but I've noticed that if I do a jump drop I can catch them off guard a lot also becuse they expect a smash.

on the bad side it uses up a lot of energy and sometimes you can get he timing wrong

i think taufik hidayat did a jump drop against chen hong sometime back, the crowd just went wild when chen hong was caught off guard and couldnt get the shuttle. very nice shot

    Then try backhand-crosscourt-reverse-sliced-jump-drop.

If you're right handed almost all backhand-crosscourt drops will most likely end up as a reverse slice, it'll be much harder to do a normal backhand slice crosscourt :D

Jump drops are fun to do. Usually when I jump, my opponents expect a smash coming. So they stand back in rear court and get ready for a smash return. Then when I just drop or slice to the front court, their frozen expression is just priceless.
