Guys, after watching the AE08, i guess china still has the world most consistent players. People like chen jin, lindan, zheng bo, gaolin, they can always deliver, no matter where and when.

I am not saying that the rest are not good, but its really disappointing to see how players like lee chongwei, kkk/tbh, mk/hs, lww/ctf crashed out of the competition.

china players are still the best and most consistent, do u guys agree.:)

I dont think its country specific. Rather it is player specific.
We in malaysia have Nicol David who has been winning consistently for a while now and has maintained her number 1 ranking for more than 20 months....

In the 1970s and 1990s, the most consistent MS, MD, and Men's team were the Indonesian players and Thomas Cup teams... ;)

    Ummm...

There are two types of consistent players:
    ...those who consistently win
    ...those who consistently lose ;)

You might want to clarify the title :p

LOL they're dedicated because the country makes them...i don't doubt their love of the sport, but they're dedicated to train and play everyday is because it's their job, "appointed" by the country so to speak :p;)..where as say over here western part of the world, we've gotta go to school and make a living while trying to dedicate ourselves......and consistancy wise...they're consistant in producing world class players, in dominating Women's aspect of the sport (a little less in WS now, and the depth is almost gone) but the weakest is the consistancy in MDs, as they can only churn out Fu/Cai...and their supposed replacements/backups being Xie Zhong Bo/Guo Zhen Dong and He/Shen or Chen Xu/Zheng Bo...while they may be good, they're in no way competitive against the top 5-7 IMHO...

Maybe too much pressure is put on the malaysia duo, tbh/kkk. Maybe they had a wonderful 2007 and people expect them to win more, over hyped. But you cant deny the fact that they are good, just that they seem to have alot of friction between them. Maybe its time rexy swap the pairs.:)

well, this is the highest level of competition, and to make it, you definately should be good lol whether they're mentally or maturely able to handle to pressure is another thing... either buck up or go home because in countries like CHN, MAS, and INA, there's PLENTY of talented kids watching and waiting for your mistake, and ready to take your spot, no? :D;) it's a cruel cruel world

i say danish players are most consistent.
Look at how long camilla martin, PG, JR/LP, KJ have been playing.
These players seem to reach the QF or better consistently.

i think there are two factors.

    - China has a lot of players at the highest level.
    - Chinese players have higher than average consistency.

Chinese players do have their up and downs like others (although perhaps not as yo-yo), but since they have many of them, one players at worse form is covered by another still in good form. giving the overall image that Chinese players are more consistent.

because of more competition, chinese players seem more consistent but their playing career is shorter. On a longer stretch, i think danish players are pretty consistent.

For ex., XXZ, zhou mi, dai yun, chen hong, wang chen, etc are shown to the exit door before they have a a chance to really pull down the china team performance.

So far, performance of zhu lin, lu lan, are not very consistent
XXF too if she doesnt improve in the next few SS.

i agree that the danish players are very good for very long, but i think we should consider their depth versus the depth that China has...after JE/ML and JR/LP...their men's doubles aren't really that great (kinda like China :p), but it's the MS that makes the difference...Joachim Persson and other Danish MS in depth can't really be compared to Chen Jin or Lu Yi (ironically Persson beating Lu Yi at the AE :p)

consistency is about minimum changes in performance and not about who's the best or the worst. :p

just look at camilla's durability against the chinese counterparts
