Hi, I'm new to badmintoncentral, but I've been reading a lot of the forums. Recently, my strings have been breaking very quickly. I strung my racket last night with BG65 at 27 pounds, and it broke after an 90 minutes of playing this morning. The previous three times I strung the racket, the string snapped after one or two sessions of playing. I have a decent smash, and like to jump-smash a lot, but I don't know why my strings are breaking so fast. Does anyone have any clue???
ShuttleShine, welcome to BCBF! Here are some factors which might be causing the fast breakage of the string.. 1) Weather. Is it dry and cold ? Strings can break faster when in dry and cold conditions. 2) Maybe, the grommets are wasted. 3) Bad stringing job ? 4) You're miss-hitting too much ? ( not hitting with sweetspot ) 5) Could it be possible that the strings are fake ? Probably not.
who strings your racquets? i think the main possibilities have been highlighted by jhirata, namely constant mishits or cracked grommets biting into the strings. can you tell if your strings have snapped in roughly the same place all 3 times?
The point..."probably your racquet can't take it?" that has nothing to do with your strings snapping. By the time your racquet can't take it-ie.40lbs your racquet would probably be broken.
Thanks for all the response! I've read all the replys, and I realize that I should have given more information, sorry! Racket- Armortec 900 Technique Stringer- Me, I am pretty good at stringing, it takes me about half an hour to string a racket. Climate-It's winter right now, pretty cold. The strings have been breaking at the sweet spot, mostly the vertical ones, so I don't think it's an improper stringing job. I slice on about half my drops, so that may be something else. Is it because of the cold weather that the strings are breaking fast?
I heard that too much slicing could add damages to your string, unless it's special treated - i.e. BG65Ti , correct me if I'm wrong..
Yes, that's one of the reasons that your strings break quickly. Do you string for others ? Do you get any complaints from others that the strings break too quickly ? If so, that might mean that there's something wrong with your stringing. But that probably isn't the case. The only thing I have in my mind is that you smash harder than FHF ..
Well, I'm going to string with BG65Ti tonight, so I'll see how that works. I don't string for others, it's too much of a hassle and I hate stringing. I strung my rackets before, and it's never broken so easily. You're right, I probably do smash harder than FHF, watch out After reading everything, the only thing I can think of is that the strings might be fake or too old, or it's too cold. Does age matter? The strings are probably a .... a year old. They've been lying around for half a year.
I've heared that the BG65Ti feels 'numb' and slippery. It doesn't matter that much to you, does it ? You smash harder than FHF . BG65Ti is known to be ideal for high-tension stringing too. It should suit you well.
Oh really, that's nice. Yeah, I went down from 29 pounds after i broke two rackets and don't have an unlimited supply of rackets like FHF has , but I just bought 20 things of BG65Ti, so I'll see how they work. If I like it, I might buy a large roll of it, do they sell that?
Yup, of course. You can have a look at www.mybadmintonstore.com or maybe http://shuttle-house.com . Good luck.
