Just wondering if anyone knows of good places to play in Bangkok ?? I'm currently playing at Soi Klang Raquet Club.
From Wong Wian Yai, Thonburi, head towards Dao Ka Nong, at the end of Satorn bridge, turn left, left hand side has Thai Commercial Bank (I think might be Thai Farmers Bank). Behind this bank has a huge Badminton court, I think around 20 courts. It is walking distance from Wong Wian Yai.
do you have to be a member for this? because i usually stay with my uncle in rama 3 plaza somewhere near there... maybe i could go play sometime during december because i don't live there...
I am not quite sure for the matter of being a member. I have not been there for six years. You are better to pop in and ask the reception for details. The only thing that I know is that it is really packed during week-end.
Thanut:- Prices for Soi Klang are as follows:- Weekday Holiday Guest 165 220 Non-member 330 440 Membership for one year is 6,600 Membership for 3 months is 2,970 I guess "Holiday" mean Sat & Sun & national holidays.
Grant, Do they have a good coach available at Soi Klang if I wanted to go to Bangkok for a couple weeks of holiday and badminton training? If so could you find out the fees or put me in touch with the contact there? Ross
Ross, There's no coach or official training as such. It's just a private club where individual groups get together. Nothing to serious. If you want coaching, I suggest going elsewhere. Grant
Grant, I appreciate the reply. I am not having much success finding coaching or training in Thailand. Ross
Ross, Why don't you get in touch with the Badminton Assoc. of Thailand:- Lumpinee Park Wittayu-Sarasin Road Patumwan 10330 Tel +662 255 3391-3 or +662 251 0712 They may know more about coaching available. Worth a try.
Grant, I may try that tks. I have one contact that has potential. Just waiting to hear back from him, he is the translator for his brother. Ross
Ross, could you please let me know if you are successfull in finding a coach....i'll be in bkk in dec and want to see if i can get coaching also.... thanks
Ross, If you do drop by Soi Klang, make sure you come on either Tues, Thurs or Sat ~19:30. We play on the far right court. Cheers.
This may be a bit too late but I just coming into this forum for the first time. I play badminton in Bangkok quite often, so if you are coming to Bangkok and want to play just send me the e-mail and I can recommend where you should go too. I also know some coaches here, so if you want some training, I also can arrange for you.
