Go to one of the tropical fish aquarium/shop. Look for some transparent plastic piping that is used for water pumps to pump back the water to the fish tank. Measure 3ft and cut the pipe. At one side of the pipe, roll on your favorite grip or overgrip. Swing the transparent pipe in your hand, you will realize that you can try to apply your strength. By swinging your racket in the air, you could not really have the feel of applying strength. One major benefit is that even if it were to hit the ceiling or floor, nothing breaks, including your heart. If you were to swing with your racket, any error will consequence breakage of both your racket and heart. Thanks.
Hm. What kind of plastic tubing? I have a tank and some tubing to take water out. Can you post a pic?
Is that hard tubing? Mine is soft and movable. May I ask how does this help feel the power or something?
so rounded grip........ can improvise to make the grip more like badminton racket, so, we can know how to grip properly too. how about right grip size too, G3, G4 or G5?
good idea too. flexi shaft stiff shaft now, we know which type of racket for us or which type of swing we need...
You'll surely end up breaking or damaging something And, in case of a mis-hit, you might hit yourself too (and, sometimes, in unexpected places)
How exactly is this tube thing going to improve smashing? Wouldn't just using an old racquet be more practical and can have better results?
It is hard tubing. Well... initially I was worried about the grip; a bit rounded. But... after smashing with it for a couple of days, my smashing improved tremendously. I used to practise with the tennis racket, but... I think it is overkill. With the tubing, you can really perform the smashing, and you can really apply your strength, and yet feeling the resistance. Whereas, if you were to swing the racket without hitting anything (or sometimes hitting the ceiling), it is not helping much. Catch hold on one such tubing and swing it to know why. Thanks.
Swinging with an old racquet without hitting any shuttle, there is not much resistance... Well... I am just suggesting swinging the tube as one of the orthodox methods. Well... who knows it may help some... Thanks.
The Arc Saber grip is a bit rounded... very soon it will be quite 'rounded', don't you worry... Thanks.
I'm sorry but I just don't understand the concept. How is this better than swinging a regular racket? How can you use this to "apply your strength" just because this is a tube and not a racket? I think you really need to explain some more. I'm extremely baffled. Lol lightsaber.
Hah.. here's something I just started doing with my friend.. Putting weights on our arms.. Around 3kgs or so. It really slows down our arm movement, but doesnt restrict us from using the flicking power of our wrists.. so it not only trains our arms, but also our wrists. Great for those who want to practise half-smashes or those who need to train their wrist.
No... I am saying... smashing with your wrist power, no arms. Swinging with a racket without hitting any objects increase the probility in hitting your wrists. When training those kids to smash, we used to hang some plastic bags high up, so that they only hit it when the raise their arms. And... they can only smash the bags when the flick their wrists... Never get the kids to swing the rackets in the air, unless they are only practising their strokes... Thanks.
