Is this likely to be shown live on Malaysian TV?
Although a domestic event, it will be well-fought.

National GP Finals loses glamour with pullouts
By Ajitpal Singh
24 March, 2008
THE 2007 Proton National Grand Prix Finals where the national champion is decided, will lose some of its glamour as three of the country's better known shuttlers -- Muhd Hafiz Hashim, Wong Choong Hann and Wong Mew Choo -- will not be competing in the event starting in Alor Star, Kedah, tomorrow. Choong Hann, the World No 15, has decided to skip the event and instead concentrate on the India Open on April 1-6.
The 31-year-old does not want to risk injury or suffer from fatigue by competing in the GP Finals as he needs to collect as many ranking points as possible in India in an effort to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
Hafiz, meanwhile, is giving the tournament a miss as he has still not recovered from an Achilles tendon injury sustained in the recent All-England.
With Hafiz, the World No 23, not entered for the India Open either, he can kiss goodbye to his chances of qualifying for Beijing.
Top women's singles, Mew Choo, last year's China Open winner, did not qualify for the GP Finals and will also be skipping the India Open.
Mew Choo can afford to give India a miss as being the World No 9 she has already confirmed her ticket to the Olympics.
Kim Hock said Choong Hann decided to skip the GP Finals to concentrate on his training.
"He (Choong Hann) wants to concentrate on polishing up his skills after failing to perform in the recent All-England and Swiss Open," said Kim Hock yesterday.
"The India Open is more important to Choong Hann as a good performance there would gain him valuable ranking points to confirm his place for the Olympics."
"However, on Hafiz, I am still in the dark over his injury problems."
Kim Hock confirmed that Mew Choo was advised to skip the India Open as she hasn't yet recovered from an injury to her right knee.
"We do not want to risk playing Mew Choo as if she aggravates her injury she could miss the Olympics," Kim Hock said.
With the absence of Choong Hann and Hafiz, World No 2 Lee Chong Wei will have little trouble clinching his sixth straight GP Finals men's singles title.
The tussle for the women's crown is likely to be between 2005 national champion Julia Wong and Anita Raj Kaur.
The men's doubles event is expected to be a hotly contested affair as all of the country's top pairs have confirmed their entries with former World No 1 Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and Choong Tan Fook -Lee Wan Wah, starting as favourites.

Attention
Lim Fang Yang & ZULFARI ABDULLAH will be replacing Wong CH & HH respectively.
Please refer here for the revised draw --> http://www.bam.org.my/tournament/web.../grouping.html
Looks like Tan CS & Arif Latif will be involved in straight fight for a place into Semis Finals in Group B. the winner will likely to meet Yeoh KB in the semi final. On the other half, a gigantic showcase between Lee CW & Roslin will be expected in the semis.Last edited by samuel882; 03-25-2008 at 05:08 AM.
