PETALING JAYA: Seasoned campaigners Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah are now the top ranked Malaysian pair. The veteran duo are now in front of Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in the world rankings, moving up one rung to third spot in the list released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) yesterday. Kiet Keat-Boon Heong have dropped two rungs to fifth spot. They lost their status as the national number one following early exits in the recent All-England and Swiss Open. They were the defending champions in both tournaments. In Birmingham, Kien Keat-Boon Heong were eliminated by Japanese Shuichi Sakamoto-Shintaro Ikeda in the first round. In Basel, they were beaten by compatriots Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif in the second round. Tan Fook-Wan Wah were the semi-finalists in both the All-England and Swiss Open. They are now placed behind Indonesians Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan and Chinese Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng in the world rankings. Zakry-Fairuzizuan reached a career high of number 11 in the rankings, moving up from 14th spot. In the Swiss Open, besides eliminating Kien Keat-Boon Heong, they also scored an upset win over Indonesians Alven Yulianto-Luluk Hadiyanto to reach the semi-finals. National number one singles player Lee Chong Wei maintained his position in the world rankings behind Lin Dan of China. Wong Choong Hann is the second highest ranked Malaysian at number 16 followed by Lee Tsuen Seng (22), Mohd Hafiz Hashim (23) and Mohd Roslin Hashim (25). The next major championships for the national players are the Asian Championships in Johor Baru from April 20-25. This is the last chance for the players to earn ranking points to get among the top 16 to win places in the Olympics. looks like a low seeding is likely for the former world no.1s.
Errr ... fyi, we are not contenders for that Thomas Cup. We are there just to make up the numbers after China, Indonesia, South Korea, Denmark and maybe even Japan or Thailand ..... or even England.
the rankings accurately show the recent form of the MD pairs... CTF/LWW are going up, KKK/TBH going downwards, Fairuzizuan/Zakry still around there...
Errrr, most of us dont provide the link either, just copy & paste the article but give due credit to it.
yeah, i'll include the link as well next time, for all those lawyers out there. i thought it would be fine since i wasn't plagarising or benefitting from it in any way.
Let's put it this way: Some people ghost write articles and put false information down. These then get posted up, arguments ensue and guess what happens? There was no truth in the "original". We have had this happen before. So it's nice to know for all of us, not just the lawyers.
you can be sure i don't have the time, or the inclination to do such a thing ... but i do see where you're coming from.
Nobody shows a true appreciation to the uncles?? I'll do it. Bravo. No words can describe how much u have amazed me.
A safe option. Doubles(especially malaysians) are unexpected. Remember the time we put our hope to ctf/lww in big tournament(dont remember which tour)when they are 1st in the world ranking. They dissapointed us badly. N azalina run amok(almost la..)
