Ok.. here's what I tried to learn in the beginning:
    1)the so called 'smash'
2)the so called 'backhand smash' which goes up to the opponent's mid-court.
3)the so called 'jump smash' which was more of a jump, land..; then drive.
    4)so called 'deceptive shots'
    5)crosscourt drop.
Now.. that's when I just began playing badminton as a panhandler.. I just wanted to learn the 'best moves'. Of course, a pan-handled smash isn't really a smash but more of a drive.

Here's what I learned when I finally learned the correct grip(s):
    1)Backhand serve
    2)Forehand serve ( low )
    3)lift ( still improving O_O )
    4)clear
    5)smash ( should have learned drop ) ( still improving )
    6)drops/crosscourt drop
    7)drive ( still improving )
    8)footwork ( still learning....)
9)deception and crosscourts netdrops ( still trying to improve )
10)jump smash ( still trying to improve )
11)backhand smash ( i can sometimes do it, still practising sometimes. )

Did I miss something out ?

    what i learned:

    Grips, Singles serve/Doubles serve
    Net shots, Lifts
    Footwork
    Clears, Drops (all drops)
    Smash, Drives
Deceptive shots, Jump smash, Backhand shots
*All the other stuff that i have learned comes in here after the bassics have been covered*

I learned it more or less in that order and more so some of the things around the same time. What i reccomend to learn and what i teach when i coach is almost the same order which is that way i listed above but depending on those learning it.
