MMU Master 2008 ( Melaka )

Greetings to all,

MMU Master 2008 Melaka Open Badminton Championships is back, for the 3rd time!

The details of the event are as follows :

Date : 19,20,25,26,27 April 2008
Venue : Yok Bin Secondary School Badminton Hall

19th & 20th April - Closed Category (1st, 2nd & 3rd Round)
25th April - Open Category (1st Round)
26th April - Open Category (2nd Round - Final) & Closed Category (4th Round - Final)

For Close Category:
- Men's Singles (MS1): Current & former national and state players above 14 years old and below 40 years old are NOT allowed to participate in this event.*
- Men's Doubles (MD1): Current & former national and state players above 14 years old and below 40 years old are NOT allowed to participate in this event.*

* Those that are born on or after 1st January 1968 but before 1st January 1994.

For Open Category:
- Men’s Singles (MS2): Open to all (Current & former national and state players are encouraged to participate)
- Men’s Doubles (MD2): Open to all (Current & former national and state players are encouraged to participate)
- Woman’s Singles (WS): Open to all (Current & former national and state players are encouraged to participate)
- Women’s Doubles (WD): Open to all (Current & former national and state players are encouraged to participate)
- Mixed Doubles (XD): Open to all (Current & former national and state players are encouraged to participate)

This event is open to all those who are interested, nationwide.

I do not involve with the organizer, just want to share with u.. But maybe i'm going to participate also.. Maybe both category, or maybe just closed category..

RFLOL, RFLOL, my level is F as in Fail. So, even though they state there below 40 can join, just wasted the participation $$$ if I join.

Oh yeah, if there are those from outstation, there are hotels within walking distance to Yok Bin School & cheaper too i.e. 10 to 15 min walk away, at my speed, which is 'flying'

. Those slightly further would be the ones opposite Stamford College.

Anyone need directions on which bus to take to get to main road where Esso & Shell are? Or you all nowadays all have cars & bikes?

i don't even think i'm gonna survive even in the 1st round :P Just want to play2.. I know my abilities is not even close with school player

maybe because usually there are only a few that enters women category..

I may join. Old man category. Depends on timing though, In singapore there's another tournament going on. Hopefully it doesn't clash. Then can enjoy chendol there.

at first thought of joining although need to specially go to melaka and stay there to play. but after browsing their prizes i decided not to play already. first, national and state player can play, and the prizes are way way below men's prizes. although the entries might not as many as the men's entries, but please bare in mind that those good women players train as hard as the men if they were to win the event.

and also the prize of the champion in women's singles cannot even cover the cost of going down to stay (accommodation and food). how to play???
