Default Do you trust your stringer?

I plan to but a few reels of string later in the year but i don't trust my stringer completely because he might steal some of the string from the reel. Is a good way to avoid this is too cut the string in the reel to 10m length and give him that 10m length string every time i need to restring?

Does anybody have any other idea?

I intend to string my own rackets in the future when i have enough money to buy an electronic stringing machine but right now i am a bit short on money and don't even know how to string a racket and don't know how to weave the string on a racket.

I highly doubt that if your stringer is a professional, he is going to steal your string since most of the cost of the string job is labor anyways. Full-time stringers often have spools of string all over the place so... I guess if you're really worried you can just give him the cut string like you said.

Whats the price difference like, if you buy your own string and pay for the labour and the price of getting everything from him?
If its only a little difference. I suggest you just take everything from him. Its quite a headache to cut the reel into 10M.

There may also be the factor that the stringer only has a limited variety of strings. In my case, the stringer only has Yonex strings and I like using Gosen and Ashaway so I order them online than get him to string them.

wow, that's gotta be a pretty desperate stringer to steal string off a reel. i've never personally known a stringer to do that.

you could just get 1 reel, see how many racquets he manages to string with it. if it's around the 20 mark then fine, that's about right. if it's significantly below that, then ask him what happened to the rest. that way, you'll know for sure if he's stealing.

If you don't trust your stringer, don't use him.

I only been with this stringer for a few months now but you can never trust him completely. The only problem is that he is a home stringer so i can never see the stringing. I guess i will have to cut the reel into 10M length for now.

well is this stringer somebody that you know though or just like barly know them? if you really dont trust them that much then why use them? but what has given you the reason not to trust him more so?

well you can do that cut it yourself but you have to make sure that you cut 10m for sure and dont give him less to work with. else you can always find another stringer, cause if you dont trust somebody then why would you keep going to them if your parinoid he will steal your strings. well hopefully over time he will gain your trust though.

    Hi phandrew,

Don't cut the reel into 10M length.

Talk to me when you attend our CCC sessions. With a reel of 100M, 26 rackets can be strung.

The home stringer name is Jacky. I am planning to order the reel of NBG98 in a few months when my other packets of NBG98 run out.

This is one of the reasons why I bought my own stringing machine. One of the three stringers at the store I used broke 2 of our rare model new and near new rackets and significantly overtensioned at least 2 of our others to the point the head distorted.

I'd highly recommend this if you start questioning your stringer.
