    Hi there

I've recently moved over from the UK and am based in Woodley Park in DC. I am looking for just badminton courts to book and also possibly an easy going club to join in the DC/MD area. I definitely need to brush up on my skills - but look forward to rekindling my love of the sport.
    Thanks
    Tej

    Hi there

Thanks for the info - will check out these places - is that Garfield St NW? Hope so, as that's really close to me. Out of interest, do you know anywhere you can book a court just to practice (not sure I'd be much use joining a club in my present state of unfitness...)
    Thanks
    Tej

Yes, Garfield St NW; 'tis St. Albans School. Sorry, I don't know where you can book a court. The last time I was playing in D.C. Badminton Club, the organizer there will match the skill level of the players. So, you don't have to worry about your state of fitness. Just come out and play.

    Cheers. :)

    Hi Tej,

You can pretty much just walk into GW and play. I don't think you get to book the courts and play over here in the United States. =)
But you can call the person in charge and tell them that you are interested in playing in their clubs. You will only need to pay a small fee and you're good to go. =)
    Twinbook is reopening this week!
    =)

Ah ok, thanks for letting me know. Initially I just wanted a place to go and practise with my partner, but guess I'll join a club and take it from there. Can I use GW facilities even if i'm not a student?
    Thanks for the info
    Tej

    Tej,

You can call the GW badminton club for more info.
You can always walk in during the club practice time and speak to someone. =)

    Cheers,

    Hi all:

I will be moving to DC for school from the sunny southern california. Of all the club mentioned above, does anyone know if they open year round i.e. winter? I'm an intermediate player and will be there in July. I would love to meet or play with some of the potential players in the area. Thanks!

Many of the community centers open year round. Depends on where you live, some of them can be very far. So a good transportation will be best to commute. Where are you studying? Have you decide where you are living?

    Cheers.

Thank you for your responses! I hope to play with you guys soon. I will be studying at Howard University COM. Therefore, I plan to stay with close to the university's campus. I'm 24 and an intermediate player. I like to play singles and doubles. Quick question, where do you get your equipments at? eg shoes, birdies, string jobs...etc...I have a stringing machine but I'm guessing it is too heavy and bulky to bring with me.

Hmm, I've never played at Howard University before so I won't know any person there. I'm not sure how update is the website, but you can try to contact the person in charge: <http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arena/7969/>. Depending on where you live, try DC Badminton Club: <http://www.dcbadminton.org/> If I remember correctly, on previous years, they closed on Summer but usually stays open during the Winter months.

I do sell some badminton supplies. Check out my website at: <http://www.tiopan.com/~badminton>. There is also another Yonex seller based in Rockville. Contact me direct for more information.

    Cheers.

Unfortunately, I cannot contact him - nobody picks the phone and the contact form on site does not work :(

Anyone knows where can I play today/tomorrow?
